Rare started making good games on the NES and stopped making good games after the NES.

Treasure made good games for several generations. Treasure wins.

Well, they're both video game developers, but yeah I don't know why would OP compare these two, seems kind of random.

Both made good stuff. Overall I prefer Treasure, but Rare did some great stuff as well.

And strangely enough they were the only developers who could do a fighting game that was more like the japanese ones, as opposed to stuff like Mortal kombat or Eternal champions that played very different from the standard Street Fighter formula.

In terms of gameplay anyway, visually KI is indeed very western, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I will go with Rare. Treasure died for me after Silhouette Mirage and Rare's archievements on ZX Spectrum, SNES and N64 are simply amazing. Personally, there's no contest here.

Imo, their last good game was the Sabre Wulf remake on GBA in 2004. Everything went downhill after this.

Treasure, jesus christ. It's not even a competition. Treasure is still making pretty alright games to this day, and most of their games are at the very least enjoyable. Rare is literally a walking corpse at this point and their best games still aren't quite as excellent as Treasure's.

The CG graphics made the game look pretty ugly. Well, the character designs still are better than in the new KI, where everyone looks like a mess.

>> No.3599668

Killer Instinct was using the same technology as Mortal Kombat. And had the same flaws Mortal Kombat has. Don't know why you think it plays more like a Japanese fighter and less like MK. Even the inputs were more like MK than SF.

But of course the biggest problem was input lag and highly exploitable combos. Both tied to the graphics.

In KI you can block the same way as SF. You can also do dragon punch and other moves in the same way as in SF. MK is compltely different.
