Aside from a handful of titles, a good majority of the Genesis library is still very affordable.

multiplat is a loose word for 4th gen. Aladdin had the same title, but the games were extremely different. The Turtles games had different titles, and yet are still different games to the same degree as Aladdin. Yet Turtles is still better on SNES.

The model 1 non-TMSS model 1s had a slightly different chipset, which notably lacks that security chip and includes a discrete Yamaha sound chip that people prefer the sound quality of.

In my personal experience, you only really notice it when you're listening for it, or if you hook it up to a sound system and boost it up.

Fairly sure all Model 1s have a discrete Yamaha.

The majority of Model 2s have the internal CMOS version though.

There is very little difference in sound quality between them. The CMOS version has a better DAC but the difference is almost inaudible. Early Model 2s and late Model 1s have poorly tuned sound mixing circuits which is the reason they sound wrong.

Legit ED x3 is only $50 looks like it can play GEN and SMS games natively and 32x games if you have the hardware. only thing it's missing is the SMS pause button on the cart but pause in SMS was pretty useless anyways since it was on the console.

It's 2 completely different games. The genesis is a sanbox rpg and the SNES version is a point and click/adventure rpg hybrid. Genesis version is waaaay better IMO.

TMSS model 1 is fine and far more common. As long as it's not one of the super late model 1s you're getting the YM 2612 sound chip and far better sound than you're going to get on an emulator.

Genesis is one of the last affordable retro gaming console.
It's library is not NEARLY as expensive as nes/snes/turbografx/Saturn/etc.
If you are trying to save money buy just loose carts. Already a shit ton cheaper than complete in box.
So many great games too.

I'd say you left out Virtua Racing and Road Rash

I love that a Virtua Racing was $100 new and you can get it cib for chump change.

The cases are plastic clamshell and the artwork and manuals tend to be in better shape, one cheap flash cart and related gives you access to the complete SMS, Genesis/MD,32X Library, Sega CD bios to play region free backups. It's an awesome retro console.
