I collect for the PS1 and Saturn. I have: Saturn- 32 games and PS1- 125 games

>How much have you kept from your childhood?
About a fifth or so of my PS1 collection is from my childhood, mostly SquareSoft RPGs. The Saturn is almost all new since I've only had it a year and a half. My uncle gave it to me two Christmas' back with a few games, almost none of which I liked. Traded them all in except for Tomb Raider and Sega Rally.

>Crown jewel of the collection?
Oh tough. Can I have multiple answers? In terms of rarity: Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Saturn and probably Suikoden II or maybe Elemental Gearbolt for the PS1. In personal terms: Virtual-On for the Saturn and XenoGears for PS1.

Also, sorry for not posting pictures. I did take them, but the site or CAPTCHA or something keeps eating them.

I kept every video game related thing from 95 till the present, I have everything intact save for some original SNES/N64 boxes which makes me mad to this day that the child me threw them out.

Crown jewel? Either Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday for the SNES- my first game. Or, Steel Battalion controller+game.

Probably less than half that I've had in the past. Fortunately, I've kept most of my consoles, but man do I have such a smaller game collection.

>How much is re-purchased
Not much. The only game that comes to mind that I had to repurchase was MK Trilogy on the N64. First one broke.

Perfect Dark, and that's because of the story behind it.

How much have you kept from your childhood?

Allmost nothing, i was a PC gamer, so i would say some boxed games like Ages of Empires, Heroes III...and some game boy games(pokemon, zelda...)

How much is re-purchased?

Allmost 99%, sending all my loose games because i need money, keeping the boxed/mint ones.

Crown jewel of the collection?

My favourite pieces are some bigboxed PC/Amiga games(Monkey Island...)

In terms of money, maybe my mint super nintendo DKC1 pack, or my Sakura Card Captor game boy color limited edition, i can stare at it for hours...

I suppose this is my crown jewel for video games. Single owner Panzer Dragoon Saga.

>> No.353292

I didn't keep anything from childhood. My mom kept our NES, SNES, and PS1, though. She gave me the SNES and PS1 recently, and though the PS1 only had a few games (Lunar 2 being the only one that stands out), she kept all the SNES games in working condition. Battletoads, Space Ace, Zelda, Street Fighter 2, both Lufias, Super Mario World, a Super Gameboy (with Pokemon Blue in it), Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Kart, Equinox, and a couple others.
Not sure which game is the rarest or most would consider the "crown jewel", but my personal favorite is Lufia 2. I still have a save where I beat the boss of the Ancient Cave on the first try (had the Catfish Jewel and Gades Blade, which was hard to get because I wasn't playing on Retry mode, and then got lucky picking up a lot of blue chest items and insta-kill spells to take out the dragons when you get to floor 80). Sadly, the only game that still has the box it came in is the first Zelda for NES.

These threads are like blue balls for me. I started a museum with my collection.... But I did keep a few things. Most importantly, I've kept my crown jewel: 50+ bare EPROMs representing 12 different games. 10 are Colecovision games, 3 of which are unreleased, 7 of which are either almost complete, or molested with debuggers.

1 set of ROMS was an unreleased ADAM game, Dragon's Lair.

The final set of ROMS was the holy grail: Cabbage Patch Kids Adventures in the Park for Atari 2600. Never before seen. Never released. There were 12 revisions of the game from start to finish, each on its own bare EPROM.

So, if you want to find good stuff, go to flea markets. That's where I found these EPROMS, for $27. They were hand labeled and all were 100% intact when dumped, despite haters.

Get yee to a flea. The best stuff is always in the booths that have little to no videogame equipment. These folks tend to have things and have no idea what they are. I found these in 2008 at the Laney College Flea in Oakland CA. It's the single best flea ever for videogame stuff.

Mark MacDonald, from EGM, had his storage locker repossessed in like 2010, and it all showed up at this flea. Including the Elemental Gear Bolt gold gun. I didn't get any of that stuff though.

They are originals, from like 1991. Not worth a mint, but an awesome find. Probably worth about 25 to 30$. Oddly, those figures raised in value from original sale price, while most NES games are still down from their original $50 price, even in box. Certainly not Zeldas and such, but a sealed in-box copy of Zoda's Revenge is now worth less than the $50 original sticker price.

Remember that when investing in game stuff: most game collectables haven't even held their original value.

LoL, there are assholes and shitty laws everywhere. If /vr/ wants to organize a road trip to the Bay Area, Id be happy to provide a tour of the flea market I mentioned. There are a lot of others to visit, too.

I found an ADAM at the Laney flea, in the box, $30. I found a GameCube NPDP and a test GameCube, $5 a piece. I found an in-the-box Odyssey 3000, $5. Two Nintendo Game n' Watches, $30 a piece (There's one booth where the guy gets great stuff, but knows what its worth...)

It's heaven out here for a collector. Plus, you could visit themade.org

This receipt, along with selling my copy of Harvest Moon 64 was probably the worst thing that I ever did as a kid. I've got about 90% of it back so far. I bought HM64 for 40 bucks (used). played it, loved it (still one of the best games I've ever played in my life) and when I felt like I should sell my nintendo 64 in anticipation of getting the gamecube I sold hm64 along with all the other shitty games I didn't care about. The cashier gave me ten bucks for it, turned around and slapped a 40 dollar sticker on it. Even he was like, wow, you just got fucked kid. Since then I've held onto and neatly organized everything I've ever purchased.

I have kept nearly all games from my childhood. The only exceptions are James Bond: The World is Not Enough and Command & Conquer for the N64, which I gave to a friend who really liked them. However, most of my retro games are not from my childhood. My first console was a N64. Before that, I was exclusively a PC gamer. My current collection of N64 games is also much larger than my childhood one.
Nothing has been re-purchased, because I only have given away those two other games.
I have no idea what my crown jewel is. I mostly concern myself with having fun with my collection rather than having a value set to it.

My moon is not nearly good enough for them, but I have played through the first one with the help of a translation guide. I really enjoyed it, but it's definitely not for everyone. Sakura Wars 2 is still sealed, and I am going to only open it when I would be able to play it without a translation guide. I just got 3 and 4 a week ago and I haven't gotten around to burning a Dreamcast boot disc, so I don't know what they are like. I also played the localized Sakura Wars 5, and enjoyed it a lot. In the end, you either need to know a good amount of moonspeak or you need a translation guide. I really like this series and think that it's a shame that it never came out outside of Japan (with the exception of 5).

I guess if you like turn-based combat and enjoy VNs, as most of the games are in VN form, you should give it a try.

Sealed Xenoblade: I reserved it at gamestop and got the little book with it. Later that week I downloaded the game to my hacked wii so I never opened it. It's amazing it goes for $150+ now.

Samurai Spirits 2: Traded a mint copy of Suikoden 2 for it when I was around 14-16, back when the game wasn't worth so damn much. Looking back it wasn't a horrible deal, but I still wish I had kept suikoden 2. Gotta own one Neo Geo Cart Right?

Samurai Shodown NGPC: I own around 10 NGPC gmes. They all came in a blue plastic package with the system from an eBgames back in the day, when SNK was liquidating all their unsold stock.

Pikmin 2: I've had a number of copies over the years, but this is complete and it's one of my favorite gamecube games.

Pulseman: Purchased for full price at Acen 2006

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne: Kind of cheated with this one, but I bought it for around $60.00 when mega man legends 6 got announced. Later I found anoither copy at a garage sale for $1.00, so I guess it all evens out.

Mega Man 6: I loved it as a kid, but most of the games I grew up with on NES were really late released like it and bubble bobble two. I'm just happy to have a copy to play with. Hope to find a boxed copy one day.

Harvest Moon 64: oldest game I still own with majora's mask. Every person I ever lent the game to loved it to death. Surprisingly nobody ever stole it from me.

Mega Man X3: no manual, but I bought a boxed coopy for $100.00 cash from a mexican flea market last year. EVERYTHING was overpriced like this, so I actually ended up getting a deal like this. When you see loose copies of super mario world for $500.00, the things actually worth money seem to be the ones that slip through the seller's fingers.

Earthbound: Bought it for $3.00 from a korean video store that was closing down around 2005, never played aside from me, though it had a huge gash where I failed to remove the sticker properly, it's a reminder to myself to never take labels off old games if i'm not 100% sure I can do it. Great game, still love it.

Boxed Legend of zelda oracle of Ages: $3.00 at a Disc Replay, pretty proud of this. One of the few times I've been able to find a deal like this at one of their stores. They're usually impossible to find deals at. Still looking for seasons.

God hand: Favorite PS2 game, hands down. I played the import on my newly hacked swap magic PS2 at the time, and was so in love with it that I reserved it and bought it the day it came out.

Clover shut down the very same day...

Saturn Bomberman: My only good saturn find in the wild, I found this in a lot with 15 other crappy saturn games. It's memorable because it was in an area I usually don't bike to for garage sales, and because they had guardian heroes, panzer dragoon, etc, and they had sold them all on eBay before they put these for sale. Seeing saturn games of any kind for sale at a garage sale is something you don't forget.

Max Anarchy: Great PS3 game, payed $90 for it and played it for 2 months non stop until the japanese lost interest. Never sold it hoping the american release would last for another two months. Americans got tired of it after two weeks.

Phalanx: $3.00 at a pawn shop, worth it for the box art and poster alone.

Nights into Dreams PS2 Pack: Comes with a cool book, was later released as nights into dreams HD.

There's more stuff, but this is what stands out to me, that and my diddy kong racing cart, but you've all seen that by now I'm sure.

I basically just started Collecting NES titles about 2 months ago on a whim. Excuse the shit qaulity, but a mere 111 NES games hardly seems worthy of anything but a Cam phone.

>How much have you kept from your childhood?
Sadly none, which sucks given I know we owned Ducktales 2 and Little Samson.

>How much is re-purchased?
So far from my youth about 5 games..which minus Ducktales 2 and Samson is my 8 year old me's Library.

>Crown jewel of the collection?
At current sad to say The Jetsons: The Cogswell's Caper. Got it for 10 bucks and the Cart looks damn near perfect.

I think I am doing okay given when I decided to collect I only had a Toaster, SMB3 SMB/Dh, and Castlevania. Now I have a top Loader I found at a yard sale for 30 bucks, no dogbone controller though. Don't get to Chase much due to being a stay at home dad.

only game I've ever repurchased:
FF7 PC version

Gave it away for free after getting a PS2 and the superior PS1 version of the game. But I regretted it later just for the novelty of the thing and the weird shaped box.

However, all of my N64 collection was made during the PS2 era, and the my Genesis/SCD collection started from scratch last year.

I don't sell games unless they are garbage, like a handful of awful PS2 games I used to have, and Super Mario World Advance 2.

I'm rebuilding after a flood so no pictures at the moment. The games' stuff wasn't affected, just relocated for their own protection. They are on loan to trusting homes.

I've kept everything, since after selling, of all things, Bases Loaded for the NES I had terrible remorse and vowed never to sell off a game again.

I've built up my collection again since friends gave me the stuff they didn't have room for. Sega CD, Genesis model 1 with master system converter, a Nintendo 64. Had to get more games for them, so I picked some of the classics up.

I don't have a "crown jewel", but I have things I like. I have a Sega Nomad, which is neat. Popful Mail is fun and probably the best game I own for the Sega CD. Azure Dreams for the PSX is awesome for those who lie dungeon crawlers and terrible dating sims.
