Is there any gaming moment more orgasmic than the Solitaire cards ecstatically leaping out of their stacks after a victory? Absolutely nothing on this Earth can compare.

I feel that its an acquired taste, but that little smiling face with the shades when you beat Minesweeper. I like to think he's getting head after sweeping all those mines.

For me its in Rocket Knight Adventure when you get near a boss and just start beating the shit out of it.
The little bit of slowdown, the sound effect, and the forgiving hitbox on Sparkster makes it feel great.

solitare is not as fun to play with real cards

it takes way longer, you don't get the win bouncing cards effect, and also there is the possibility to cheat

but what is more pathetic than cheating at solitaire

Is it though?

Solitaire can have literally impossible layouts that cannot be won, so combine that with the effort of setting up a game by having to place all the cards, shuffle etc, I think its not that pathetic.

The games that come included with Windows are at the very bottom of the gaming hierarchy.

Only the lowest of casuals play that shit.

Imagine some elderly retired couple in their trailer park home taking turns playing this game on their old beige shitbox PC.

They have no conception of what real gaming is like and no curiosity to look beyond the games folder in the start menu.

What a fucking pitiful existence.

I don't come to /vr/ for nostalgia, but I have a peculiar memory with this screen, as an introverted and depressed 30 something.

My grandma worked as a maid for a retired doctor. This chill old man had a big house on the outskirts of my village, with large woods and I even learnt about botany and birds with him. His children were working and married, except for his younger son who was still a college student. This guy was bright but not very talkative and moody at times.

One day, when I was 10, I went there and this student was in their large dining room with a rifle rack for hunting, setting up a brand new computer he had just bought. It was the first PC I ever saw and I watched him try Mach 3, then Prince of Persia, amazed by the animations of the character, and finally navigated Windows 3.1. He played a bit of Solitaire until we finally saw this cool victory screen. Felt pretty awesome and this day really got me into computing.

I don't remember seeing him again, but years later he took one of the rifles from said rack and blew his head off.
