I mean, I can go on and on, but I'll leave it there. The whole boards a cesspool of edgy, contrarian opinions.

I'd say consoles were either equal to or more advance than the average computer up until the N64.

After that, the Voodoo graphics card was released, and that really blew the doors wide open for powerful gaming PCs.

N64 was released 6 months before Voodoo though. You couldn't even buy it until 1997. The few Voodoos out in 1996 were exclusively OEM editions.

It depends if the game is optimised or not. If it is then it runs at the same speed with more pixels and better colours. If it isn't then it's garbage, like most of the nes library.

>better colours

When will this meme end?

PAL is superior by design but wasn't made for vidya. It was made to correct the typical color errors of NTSC that happened on long distance transmissions by phase shift, therefore it replaced the color error by the much less noticeable saturation error.
This was irrelevant with consoles as the device producing the signal is directly at the TV and therefore there do not really occur color errors.

Who the hell has said THAT? Vectorman came out in 1995 - near the end of the Genesis' lifespan.

nitpicking is fun! can you tell any color difference here?

Seriously though, >>3568082 is right, the color thing is only relevant on distance transmissions. You can argue that PAL has more vertical lines, but the color thing doesn't apply to video games.

Not really bothering to follow this whole thing (don't care), but more vertical lines would definitely make the colours look different.

If you read the comments on that video, there's plenty of people there saying their NTSC game doesn't look remotely close to that.
The guy must have used a defective cable.

There isn't any actual color difference between NTSC and PAL except for distance transmissions. Let's put an end to this meme once and for all, shall we?
If you want, embrace the glorious extra vertical pixels and brag about it (even though most of the times it was black bars), but the color thing just isn't true.

Well the vertical lines are black, not lit. But from a distance you wouldn't be able to see the lines, it would all blend together which would make the overall colour look different. Pic related isn't exactly the same, but the effect would be similar.

That's all assuming the vertical bars are black, like I say I don't know from first hand experience this is just some basic colour theory.
