Did Halo really begin development as a Dreamcast title? Do betas exist or is there only footage of Halo/DC homebrew? Would it have been close to on-par with what we finally got on Xbox or would there really be a "generation" of difference?

I remember re-reading one of my DC mags a couple years after Sega's demise and seeing a screenshot of Halo in a section of upcoming games. Kinda makes you wonder if in some other universe Sega held on another year or two and Halo ends up saving the company.

Not him, but health regen, two weapon limits, and overly floaty controls were all things that Halo made popular. It also popularized the melee attack that was in theory a nice addition but was in reality only added because it was impossible for console players to track enemies up close in an FPS with a gamepad so they needed some way to still be able to attack enemies that were right next to them.

It wasn't a bad game, and it was nice going from mainly corridors to huge open areas, but it set a lot of bad standards for the industry.

Also, it waspossible that it may have hit the Dreamcast if the Dreamcast had held out long enough, but it wouldn't have been the same game.
