Playing it at the moment. The battle theme music is utterly terrible :\ What the fuck were they thinking putting a sweet prog rock bassline/drums and time signature with some redneck ho-down fiddle as the lead?

Even when the story has been told,
Life goes on...

Except for those faggots Crono and Marle

>tfw Chrono Trigger was a perfect one-off
>tfw some faggot uses CT's success for his own faggoty pet projects
>it turns CT into a "series"

That's why people hate Chrono Cross. If Chrono Cross wasn't even remotely related to Chrono Trigger it would've been fine.

OP didn't even mention Chrono Trigger

Why can't you fags ever post in a Cross without feeling the need to bring up Trigger?

3/4ths of posts in every Cross thread is always crybabies going on and on about a completely different game

I honestly really like chrono cross a lot better than trigger, including it's battle theme

I can't really say I really liked Chrono and Marle much as characters either (cucking the best girl? it's better that you're dead.)

I had the opposite
>Love Chrono Cross dearly for all the risks it took with it's leveling, battle system, party systems
>one my favorite sound tracks
>some of the best visuals on the system, both in terms of actual graphics and character designs
>the story hit me hard
>Hear about Chrono Trigger
>HOLY SHIT THERE'S A PREQUEL TO THIS ON THE SNES!? THAT'S GONNA GREAT! AND IT HAS TORIYAMA ART!? AWW YEAH!!
>Barley anything to do with each other
>feels incredibly generic, like something I've played dozens of times before
>Might as well have been made by an AI, it's that formulaic.

The reason it seems so formulaic is because it created the formula that most jrpgs follow. I personally love both games for different reasons

Not really? Like I kept telling myself "Oh, this is just like Dragon Warrior IV" because Marle feels like knock off Alena. And that was on the NES.

no, its mostly because it was a new Chrono game and EVERYONE wanted CT2 and was expecting CT2 even though it was in the same universe.

i mean, i really love CC despite a few things, but really, why wasn't it just CT2 in terms of music and everything that made CT a classic, besides the old team maybe not making it?

>> No.3537143

>>3537012
you wouldn't have had that issue at all if you played CT first, especially if you played it back in 1995 since it did a lot of groundbreaking things, most importantly multiple endings.

It'd be like making a thread about the Star Wars prequels without bringing up the originals.

Oh sure, Cross is god awful on its own. With the shitty pacing and drought of actually interesting characters with a purpose.

But it's so much worse because it's actually linked to a good game. And not just linked! It actually shits on the original story for some incomprehensible reason!

It didn't even create the time travel "mechanic" triggerniggers like you like to brag about.
CT didn't create a damn thing.

>> No.3538398

dragon quest created the formula that jrpgs follow, which they ripped off from wizardry anyway.

Final Fantasy 1 did time travel before fucking CT did it, and arguably in a more compelling way as well.

Trigger is a great game still, and it def pushed some concepts forward, like multiple endings and new game+, but its not like it was the original game that all the cliches spawned from or some shit, get over it.

>> No.3538401

>>3537012
This was similar to my reaction. I never played Trigger because I hated the Toriyama art and wasn't super huge on RPGs anyways.

Got Cross for some reason and ended up enjoying it a fair bit. Wasn't amazing, but I enjoyed the ride enough that I decided to go back and try Trigger. It just felt like a cookie cutter JRPG by comparison so I dropped it after a bit.

That's not to say CT is bad and CC is good, but they're very different games and one may appeal to someone while the other may not.

You can't even do that.
You have to time travel first and spend a good portion of the game being put on rails before you can get to that bucket, and you can't even legit win until you're further in the game, and you'll need to grind like a madman because of the shitty battle system to even stand a chance at killing Lavos before the Water Palace.

Meanwhile on the NES, Metal Max gives you the option of legit ending the game whenever the fuck you feel like, as in literally after finishing the game's first dialogue cutscene, and let's not forget that in there you can actually go fight the final boss as soon as you finish the first dungeon, which has two small floors, and depending on how much you know about the game you can legit finish it in half an hour or so disregarding everything but one dungeon and one mandatory miniboss, and killing the final boss at barely level 10-15 out of 100.

Instead you acknowledge it and take every opportunity you get to whine about it
