Let's talk Vib-Ribbon.

What a pain in the ass to emulate that game.
And even then, if you create an audio disc out of mp3 files in a specific order, it sometimes skips tracks or doesn't even play them at all.

But when you make it work, oh boy you're in for a treat.

>>Uh...
that's the game's problem
it's charming, but there is very little content

>> No.3524418

>>3524410
The content comes from you putting your own music CD's inside and playing to the music.

>> No.3524459

>>3524418
and you get the difficulty knob, single track/whole disc selection, speed/auto options and that's pretty much it
you could definitely say this simplicity is in the specific of this kind of game and using your own music was a novelty back in the day, but there just isn't a whole lot to talk about unless you delve into what kind of music you use with it

I absolutely love this game. It goes in the same line with Parappa, when early PS japanese devs were exploring console capabilities in really creative ways. I still like better over stuff like AudioSurf, etc, and really wish someone had at least tried to make a clone of it.

I played this game this year and it absolutely blew my mind. Truly a feat of technology.

How does the CD thing work with the PS3 and Vita versions?

>> No.3524971

>>3524934
It doesn't.

>> No.3525003

>>3524971
Correction: it does work on PS3, where you can physically put in a CD, but Vita owners are limited to the six original songs.

The one fucking game that deserved a proper PSP port. The one fucking game.

It's not retro, but I can't believe Vibri wasn't included in that Playstation Smash Bros thing.

PSASBR was an American-made game, and Vib-Ribbon wasn't released in North America until after it came out.

Litterally all of them, I wish laugh and peace did more stuff after this, they had a really unique sound and I want more of it. if I had to choose though for me its either universal dance, sunny day, or overflowing emotions.

Tell me about it. You can clearly tell that they were told to make their songs a certain way to build the levels around, which is why Polaroid has a very consistent BEAT...BEAT tempo and Overflowing Emotions speeds up and slows down.

It's really interesting. Usually, you design the game around the songs, not the songs around the game!

i've had varying degrees of success with pSX and ePSXe (former couldn't do the 6 on-disc tracks for some reason but worked with audio cd images fine, the latter seems not to work at all with certain emulator versions)
