It's Sonic Boom. It has that "we've been through some shit, haven't we?" feeling.

I get the same feels with this game:

The US version? Absolutely. It's incredibly melancholic, but weirdly enjoyable as a result. It's nearly all down to the music though, it still amazes me how a soundtrack can change the tone of something that much. The only similar experience I've had to it was watching Metropolis with a different soundtrack each time.

It is depressing to think about that people consider it the best 2d Sonic game, when it has the most boring level design out of all the 2d sonic games. The spin dash is awful too, and the game slows down and drops frames all the time.

Other than the music and the FMVs, the game doesn't offer much anything special... and the FMVs can't shine because the Sega CD can't handle that well, and the music got ruined in the USA release.

>>3504481
I like the game because I like the ideas that were in it. But I'm not going to pretend that they were executed as well as they could have been.

I find it unfortunate when people just shit on games because the mechanics didn't exactly work out in stead of enjoying seeing what was being tried by the devs.

He probably played the US version since the Jap/EU version is more upbeat and party like than the more grim soundtrack of the american version.

You talking US or JAP?

I can't stand the US Ost. Ruins everything cool they did with the music.

As for JAP, I find the whole thing up early and energetic. The ending track is a little depressing, but then in crescendos into the whole "you can do anything part". As someone with little self confidence and a lot of self loathing, it never fails to get to me.

>Does anyone find Sonic CD really depressing? I don't want to live anymore.

If I was anything more than a wannabe janitor I would permanently ban your ass off here for spouting such outrageous blasphemies.

This is literally the most wrong opinion in this universe right now, within every past and future time. Might as well say that 2 + 2 = 5 or that Earth is flat.

This game is not just for your entertainment, or for SEGA's profit. It never was. This game is a gift from God almighty gained through the souls of Japanese people to put us into contact with our inner selves so that we can resonate with nature and the world around us to find our own purpose and not put the time we spend in this plane of existence to waste. It was designed with the sole purpose of making you feel good, beloved and useful to the community.

You act selfishly and want to deprive the world of your talent, your genius, your sensitivity. You're not cool like Sonic is. He knows what's up, what life's about, and how to play the part in his own cycle. You should listen to half the words he has to say.

The game often tries to tell you don't have to give up, you don't have to stop, find a thing you truly believe in and let it never get away from you, let it guide you instead. The art style and choice of instrumentation/music makes you appreciate the good in the world and be wary of the bad in it, where things could go wrong and you don't even realize it because you're too much engulfed to even recognize the glimmers of hope and good left somewhere, waiting to be noticed. Just listening You Can Do Anything alone saved me from a lot of dangerous cliffs my life was going to fall into, the sheer willpower of life breathing through that song is astronomical.

tl;dr Play it again with the JP/EU soundtrack you massive faggot. And make sure songs have the vocals. A good version is the 910 proto, works fine with the US SEGA CD and it's functionally the Japanese release.

Nah most people(i.e plebs etc.) consider 2 the best one
Most sonic fans consider 3&K the best one

Sonic 3&K is a janky ass slidey fucking thing with not-real physics and too many gimmicks to be fun. It's painful to play when you just jump around on this amusement park shit for toddlers.

It's actually pretty clever.

They wanted to invert the difficulty of the higher and lower paths.
But they forgot to remove the deadends from the upper path.
