I just like later games because the metagames got way more interesting. Gen I had terrible balance and Gen II had a whacked out level curve that made it way too easy.

Not to say that Gen VI wasn't also too easy, but the point is this is hardly new.

I grew up with Red and I prefer the newer games. Going back to the GB ones (particularly gen I) is unbearable without turbo mode (because it's so slow) and without some kind of balance hack (because some pokemon are literally useless).

I haven't replayed gen 1 since 2003 because of this. I first played gen 2 when it first came out, and I got bummed out because I felt like the game was going to be over, and then out of nowhere you're running through kanto again. Seeing all the changes from time was really cool
