>3 excellent Street Fighter II ports (vanilla SFII, Turbo and Super), plus an acceptable port of Alpha 2

>A great Mortal Kombat II port (even better than the 32-bits versions), plus MK3 and UMK3

>A bunch of amazing fighting games based on TV shows, cartoons, anime and manga: Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition, Gundam Wing: Endless Duel, TMNT: Tournament Fighters, Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension, Ranma 1/2: Chogi Rambu Hen, Yu Yu Hakusho: Final, Osu!! Karatebu

>Decent neo geo conversions like Fatal Fury 2, Fatal Fury Special, Art of Fighting 2, World Heroes, World Heroes 2, Samurai Shodown (this one not so much, but still very playable)

>Cool underrated japanese fighting games like Battle Tycoon: Flash Hiders SFX, Tuff E Nuff, Super Chinese Fighter, Power Instinct, Fighter's History, Fighter's History: Mizoguchi Kiki Ippatsu!!, Battle Master

>Fun western-developed fighting games like the classic Killer Instinct and Weaponlord

Even the Sailor Moon fighting games are pretty decent.

Mmmm no, that'd be the Sega Saturn.
And a lot of people will burn you for saying the Capcom and SNK ports are good and will probably try to argue the Genesis ports are better (when in reality none of them are accurate).

But I gotta say it has some of my favorite console-exclusive fighting games from 4th gen, you already mentioned them, Endless Duel is probably the best one. DBZ Hyped Dimension is fantastic, but my actual favorite DBZ game (ever, not just SNES ones) is Super Butoden 2. I still play this game to this day and love it, especially with turbo mode enabled. Luckily one of my buddies is also a huge fan and we both are pretty good at it.

Sailor Moon S/Super S are also really fun games.

Genesis has the Yu Yu Hakusho game by Treasure which is pretty awesome too, but after that I haven't come up any other great exclusive fighting games for the console, I'm sure there must be something else, maybe some JP-only games. DBZ Bu Yu Retsuden is pretty decent, better than Super Butoden 1 at least.

shit, I completely forgot! after the neogeo and the saturn, then

>Endless Duel is probably the best one.
it's indeed an amazing game, it's among my 10 favorite 2d fighting games

>Super Butoden 2.
also forgot about it, never played the butoden series, nor the mega drive game

>Genesis has the Yu Yu Hakusho game by Treasure which is pretty awesome too, but after that I haven't come up any other great exclusive fighting games for the console,
eternal champions, i don't like it, but it's pretty popular. eternal champions cd vastly improved it, though

PS1 have the Gundam Battle Assault games which are basically sequels to Endless Duel, but after that, I can't think of any PS1-exclusive fighting games that I like. The DBZ games on PS1 were pretty disappointing (except Legends, although not sure if I'd call it a fighting game, and it was better on Saturn).
Do you have any recs?

Most 2d fighting games on psx had superior ports on Saturn or Dreamcast

Exclusive fighters on PSX that I enjoyed would be Samurai Deeper Kyo and Tekken 3

I would argue that the Saturn is the best console for fighting games followed by the Dreamcast.

Saturn had good NeoGeo ports with bonus content (Kof 97, Wakuwaku 7, Samsho 3, Real Bout)
Most of the cps2 fighters ( Alpha/Zero series, Vampire Hunter/Savior, Pocket Fighter, Marvel Superheroes, Xmen COTA, Xmen Vs SF, Marvel Vs SF)
and a bunch of other great
2d fighters ( Asuka 120%, Groove on fight, Suiko Enbu, Golden Axe Duel, Astra Fighters)
3d Fighters ( Last Bronx, Virtua Fighter 1 & 2, Fighting Vipers, Fighters Megamix)
And a whole bunch of Kusoge fighters

Dreamcast had ports of the best SNK fighters (Last Blade 2, Garou, Kof 98) and all the later Capcom fighters. ( Alpha/Zero 3, Street fighter 3 series, Marvel 1 & 2, CapvsSNK 1 & 2, Power Stone 1 & 2, Tech Romancer, Project Justice) There was also Soul Calibur, which to me is the best in that series.

Totally forgot about 3D fighting games, I was thinking 2D only.
Never heard of Samurai Deeper Kyo, will try to remember and check it out.

Not even close. Not even if you're only counting retro systems. Counting things like Ranma 1/2 as "amazing" really makes me think this was troll bait. If not, you are retarded.

The first two Ranma ½ for the SNES are average at best, but the 3rd one is a great fighting game.

Hahaha yeah right. 6 button game on a 4 button pad, cut down animations, scaled sprites… the list goes on.

> A great Mortal Kombat II port (even better than the 32-bits versions)
A lot of the 32-bit version sucked with their loading times.

>Decent neo geo conversions like Fatal Fury 2, Fatal Fury Special, Art of Fighting 2, World Heroes, World Heroes 2, Samurai Shodown (this one not so much, but still very playable)
Again, cut down animations/scaling.

Gundam Wing is where it's at for SNES fighters. Everything else doesn't really hold the candle to it except for KI. But then again—are we talking about emulation or physical console? If it is the latter, you need imports for JP titles (and no translations for you). But if you're emulating, then why bother? Get Fightcade.

Enjoy your slowdowns and muffled audio.

Serously, what's up with the slowdown? Did rumic soft didnt knew how to programm a game?

Also the first ranma game is 100% kusoge, and the second one is meh...

this is not a bait thread, the snes/sfc is a criminally underrated system for fighting games

bad emulation

the game doesn't suffer from slowdowns, it's just slower than the average fighting game

Up to its generation, yes. Saturn, and maybe PSX topped it. I guess one could say the SNES is the best if you want not only fighting games, but also a varied library.

They were excellent ports, regardless. These things you exaggerated here were inevitable and also happened on Mega Drive, except that one looks dull as fuck with the lacking palette.
