I consider the Shinobi line a very good series of games but unrecognized by Sega. The Metroid of their company if you will. A question to ask your question, why haven't you played this yet?

The Shinobi formula refined to perfection. It's a freaking masterpiece and really one of the last games of Sega's good period. Just about anything good after 1993-94 was not developed by Sega

what i dont get is this... the sega system 16 is pretty close to the mega drive hardware... why did sega never try to port the original shinobi? Maybe they did and they ran into sprites on screen problems, scrapped it and came up with the inferior super shinobi crap?

yeah this game is amazingly sweet, like really good. Played it 2013 or something for the first time and couldnt believe what I missed out.

You can get extra life like crazy in this game, maybe even farm some with points, Im not sure.

Still couldnt beat the last stage. I know, I know.

Except all the slowdown. Seriously, SNES defense force please don't lie and try to say the games framerate doesn't bog down in places. It does. It's a great game, but it has it's share of slowdown.

Also Shinobi 3 beats it hands down, if for no other reason then actually being a balanced game.

Shinobi III has too many autoscroller sections, despite being cool, they seemed more like filler to me.

We should've got the III beta instead. It was going to be more similar to RoS.
