Without a doubt my favorite Sega systems are the Genesis, the Dreamcast, and the Game Gear. The Dreamcast in particular is very dear to me because it was the first console I bought on my own with my own money, and I played the shit out of Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure. I even played the shit out of the handful of demo discs I got my hands on during that launch window. It was everything I could have hoped for in a new Sega system, and even after it was discontinued I kept playing it and buying whatever games caught my eye for it. I refused to give up on the thing, and the only time I really started to move on was when I got Sonic Adventure 2 and PSO Episodes 1 and 2 for the Gamecube.

The Dreamcast will always have a place of honor in my collection. It may have been Sega's last but damn if they didn't go out with a bang.

I probably would have left too, when you started to connect the PS4 to your 13" CRT using RF to play as the developers originally intended. Actually, I probably would have bailed on the way there when you started going on about how hard core retro you are and DC is the latest you can stand to play. Because some weeb image board has that as some arbitrary limit.
BTW, The video game club now refers to you as "that kid who don't know you can plug in more than once console at a time". What a dingus. You had a great opportunity to introduce people to retro games. People who were willing to brave the yellow face and travel to your place to play. Most kids tell me this is a rare thing. >> No.3492278

>>3491291

Looking through the library, it pretty much only has three things for non-online multiplayer: Rock Band, COD (does it still even have splitscreen?), Sports games, and fighters. In terms of local multiplayer there's nearly nothing there. Besides the above, controller-passing on MGSV or group-playing Tales, I wouldn't even think of the PS4 when hosting others.

probably not

I hate the thing though. D-pad is uncomfortable and weird (also, doing fighter inputs on it is awful -- and this isn't even on an old, worn controller, this is a PAL DC controller I bought new in box a few years ago), the stick is too high up and not well gripped, buttons are spaced far and small, triggers hurt after a bit.
also, not having Z/C buttons is annoying as shit for fighters

It looks cool as fuck, but as an actual controller, I can't stand it.

been meaning to pick one of these up for years
mostly haven't because I haven't played my DC that much at all lately

Don't forget to link your Dreamcast to your NGPC for even more fun!!

Triggers do dig, yeah. They're modelled more similarly to "real" triggers than they should really have been. The XBOX (dreamcast 2) would later get it (more) right. The d-pad I would rate as the best one ever outside of the PS Vita, with the XBOX One d-pad underneath it.

On the topic of how I prefer the the controller overall:
Pros:
>d-pad, if not having slightly too much travel and otherwise slightly sharp.
>rest of buttons have good placement and travel
>controller was very ergonomic when compared to the rest of what was out then

Cons:
>wire in the back. When you can tuck it into the nub below the expansion slots, the controller rocks
>ergonomics are a little too sharply modelled/close together for north american hands

True. In a few hundred years you'll have to blow replicator credits to get them.

I wish Sega/developers did a better job at preserving their Dreamcast classics for new platforms

The Dpad is kind of bad. I've got 4 DC controllers and all four have super loose dpads. Took a lot of getting used to for THPS and I couldn't begin to count how many times Ryo would stop suddenly and turn around in Shenmue.
Also the wire comes out the bottom, who thought that was a good idea

I want to download saves and import them to my console like the Max Drive for the PS2. Is there anything like that for the Dreamcast?

The ergonomics of it never really bothered me but I guess that's because I am smol.

The dreamcast controller is in essence the saturns 3d controller done right. The only thing it really ever needed was another analog stick. But since most games were built without it in mind I can live without it.

Look up dream explorer. There are guides for burning the save files to a cd and using dream explorer to transfer them to the CMU.

Of course I am. Compared to you the nerd with the 'kick me' sign taped to his back in manly. If you have trouble holding that controller try a 0130. Or the poor girls 1 player alternative FAG.

You could also download saves to the memory card by using the internet browser on the console.

To be sure I get it. I could go on Gamefaqs through the web browser, and select those saves? Even the ones that are Nexus Card?

I just bought a Dreamcast and PSO ver2 off of Amazon. I've never owned one before and am excited to play it.

The drop rates are even more insane compared to the GameCube PSO. If anyone has more recommendations for games throw them my way. Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia are next but pretty expensive.

It was mostly used to unlock extra content in SNK fighters and CvS1, it didn't have anything like Four Swords "use your GBA as a GCN controller" games
