what is the best star trek game

Elite Force 1. It's Star Trek Quake.
Just one though. 'Realism' bullshit ruins the sequel. (Reloading phaser rifles my arse)

So much of my life gladly wasted on this game.

>> No.3465437

Well, on several occasions in trek it was mentioned that phaser rifles ran on energy packs but they lasted a hell of a lot longer than magazines in current age firearms.

I feel like being under the command of Picard in 2 instead of "insaneway" Janeway is worth the price of reloading phaser rifles.

What about the Starfleet Command series?

Pretty sure it's old enough to be /vr/.

Virtual Voyager was weirdly calming. Walking around the ship, fucking around in the holodeck. I spent a long time in there.

Personally I want a game similar to that. Where you're the member of decent sized crew, and you can make friends and screw around, and occasionally an "episode" will pop up and you'll get to beam down, or shuttle down, to planets and meet aliens. Help them with their problems, get taken captive... that sort of thing... A real star trek sim.

With current game tech there's certainly the potential to do just that. Unfortunately I doubt that the devs that would have access the the license would be capable of it. That and the license holders are too stupid to see the possible demand for it.

Trek saw a big resurgence in popularity when all the series got put on netflix.

25th Anniversary and Judgment Rites are the greatest imo.
I never cared much for the fps pew pew stuff, but classic adventuring with fully voiced TOS crew? yes please!

I still remember walking into that computer store in the early 90s and seeing this running on a computer.

I was impressed as fuck.

Honestly it wouldn't have to be Star Trek to be a good game. So long as it has that feel I'd be cool with it.

Pretty much this tbqh.

Voyager had a lot of shit episodes, but Janeway beats Picard out as captain by a long shot.

Folks often forget that First Contact Picard is a wholly different beast from TNG series Picard. First Contact basically did away with all the whiny humanitarian bullshit that series Picard was forced to regurgitate.

Sisko and Kirk beat either of them, though.

Janeway was just a stubborn, self-righteous twat. She did what she wanted without care of anything beyond "I'll show them I'm right!" Except she usually didn't know what the fuck she was doing in the first place.

Since you're all here: Anyone know the name of a game I've forgotten. I'm not 100% it's retro, but it was pretty much just the ship-to-ship combat of Star trek. I'm pretty sure it was browser based. You could direct your shields, and manage cloaking and such and it was all online iirc. overhead view... unofficial...

Yeah, it's been shown that they can be used in firefights for days on end before running low on power. Reloading isn't even a 'realistic' mechanic in a Trek game. Literally serves only to slow the game down.
