Does anybody here know a place for getting a reasonably priced Sega Saturn (and periphals) for PAL regions?

>> No.3458839

Why would you want a PAL Saturn in the first place? All the good games are Japan exclusive.

>> No.3458940

>>3458839
I don't think getting JP games is a problem with PseudoSaturn.

I know. With the yen at around 100 these days a ¥500 console has skyrocketed from $4 to $5. What a fucking ripoff. amitite?!?!

over here in aus you might call 120 for the console + controllers and games an ok deal
Try to get a model 2 though as there is a faulty psu in some m1s

What's the best way for a strayan cunt to get a jap Saturn working here? Step down transformer? Swap the PSU?

Also jap Dreamcast. There's some cheap ones on ebay. Seems like $50-80 is a way better deal than $250+ for a PAL one with a bunch of burned games.

>> No.3460208

>>3460175
Step Down transformer for sure, you can get one from jaycar for like $50.

>> No.3460209

>>3460175
>Step down transformer? Swap the PSU?
either or, whichever is easiest, not sure if a Model 1 psu can go in a Model 2 and viceversa.

>>3460175
>Also jap Dreamcast
Just watch out. It won't play pal/us games except burnt ones.

PAL Saturn has Deep Fear (in English) and the best version of Powerslave/Exhumed, that alone makes it worth it if you ask me.

I've never seen Saturn this cheap online (working, in good condition). Maybe lots of several untested models, but one console costs a bit more.

>> No.3460234

>>3460175
Assuming you're 220+. I use a stepdown. I have a few plugged into power strips so I have 240/120 in most rooms.

>>3460209
Swapping the PSU on a Saturn is piss easy. You don't even need to solder/unsolder anything.
But if you suggest doing the same with a Rhea you'll trigger massive sperglorsism.

>>3460226
Where is my post did I say eBay eBayby?

>> No.3460247

It always was cheap as fuck in Poortugal. It actually was a successful console here. Unfortunately that didn't translate into the most interesting good games lying around, people just bought the obvious stuff, like Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA and Sega Worldwide Soccer, you know, the obvious stuff. But still there are cheap second hand saturns lying around. You'll easily find a Saturn below from €20-€50

But how the second hand market works here is usually just national shipping or doing hand to hand business in the same city, so good luck having someone shipping internationally for you.

>>3460247
Would they make shipping to Canarias? :^)

It doesn't have a lot of worthwhile western exclusives, and most of them you can easily play them with moonrunes anyway.

PAL doesn't have a lot of worthwhile western exclusives, and most of them you can easily play without knowing moonrunes anyway.

The freedom saturn on the other hand has the working designs titles that would be otherwise impossible to play if you don't know runes

I never actually played any of them but the second one looks better. It has pretty impressive view distance for a saturn game as well. To bad the car are so bland looking

Believe it or not it was developed by CAVE, yeah those bullet hell shooters devs

That's assuming you get a matching power supply that even fits in the unit. You can have two model 1s having different power supplies, as well as two model 2s, but sometimes a model 1 uses the same power supply as a model 2.... production was really all over the place.

Show me hard-off or yja link, or any other store listing for tested Saturn for 500 JPY.
I usually see them in 1000-3000 range.

Why not get a PS1 or N64 in that case? Saturn isn't for wannabee weeaboos.

Just wondering.

I don't remember mentioning amazon.

Still waiting for 500 JPY tested Saturns.

Stay assmad kiddo. I have a dozen "tested" saturns I paid a few bucks for. Bawling about it won't make one magically jump into your lap.

I'm fine with mine 1500 JPY Saturn bought on YJA and don't need second one.

Can anyone confirm that this alone lets you play games from other regions ?

I have a PAL Saturn. Only Jap game I have is sealed, I don't really want to open it to check.

>>3461426
>Never seen that myself. I've only seen a few hundred units though so can't say they're all the same. Everything here in Asia seems to be the same.

You couldn't have opened a few hundred units and have the same power supply in all of them, unless you either can't tell the difference, or you were strictly only dealing with the launch model (hst-3200).

There are 3 power supplies: a top mounted one (only in launch models), a 5 pin long one (in all model 1s except launch models, and in early model 2s), and a 4 pin short one (in all model 2s from 1996 onwards). This last one also only supplies 5V, while all the others do 3.3V and 9V as well.

>> No.3464004

>>3463237
You can't confirm from looks alone because multiple similar cards can have completely different insides, and even if they have the same PCB they may have different firmware contained on them.

Just use the swap trick to load region patched backups, it is simpler.

Non JP Saturns are pretty expensive as are the games

>> No.3464070

>>3464017
JP Saturns aren't that cheap either, unless you want an untested, piss yellow unit from a heavy smoker house.

If you want a unit in DECENT condition, that is confirmed to be working, you are looking at $20-30 minimum even if you import Japanese units.... that is, of course, without any cables or controllers.
