2. Emulators have savestates, and basically, you're a cheater.

If you want to avoid some of the stigma, buy an everdrive. At least you'd be playing on real hardware.

There's nothing wrong with emulation if you just want a taste of games you may have missed out on without paying a fortune for hardware and software.

For other people it's a question of practicality - many of us have nice tidy homes and families and it's unrealistic to have dozens of consoles all wired-up in a room somewhere (some us may choose to do that anyway because fuck it.)

But emulation is like have having sex with a condom on - it will never be as good as the real thing.

Where things become nauseating is with many of the tweens on 4chan who think piracy is some sort of bragging right;

In my experience its inferior to playing on actual hardware because things like sound quality and framerate are often times compromised. GBA emulators tend to avoid these issues in my experiences.

There are two problems with emulation: accuracy/response-time and lack of lightgun.

Not sure if multicarts/flash carts fix that. I certainly don't notice a difference in accuracy between multicart/flash cart and the real thing. I've never tried a lightgun game on one, so I can't say if they'd work.

If you care about accuracy but lack the yen for original carts, go for the multicart/flash cart option. If you don't care about accuracy and/or mostly (or entirely) play RPGs, emulation is for you.
