/vr/ - Retro Games

There are a large handful of games I'd like to do translations for whenever my Japanese gets better. This is one of them.

There is, for 1 and 2.
Not in English though. Unfortunately.

No idea how this crazy deal happened, but playing first game after watching localized anime movie was mind-blowing for me.
3 and 4 were supposed to come out as well, but they never did.

Translation exists, it's just not hacked into the game.

When I was living in Japan in the early 00s, one of my clients was this guy who had a recording studio for jrock bands. The studio was at his home and every time I went there, there was a bunch of guys sat around the TV playing Sakura Wars.

Never bothered to play them myself, not a SRPG kinda guy.

Don't worry about lacking language skills, your enthusiasm will more than make up for it. Just throw the text at Google translate and rewrite it in ways you seem fit.
People playing translations don't really care about quality either or they wouldn't play translations in the first place.

The Sakura Taisen games are super overrated because an entire generation of Japanese nerds is super nostalgic over them. The combination of dating sim and RPG was novel at the time, but of those aspects now feel really outdated when you play Sakura Taisen. It also has some extremely annoying mechanics that they never bothered to change; for example every girl has a mission especially about them, so even if there's a girl you don't give a shit about you'll have to struggle through her mission for no good reason.

Yes, completely official. First one has some lines with machine translation tier quality, second one is pretty much perfect.
I remember reading that translation for 3 was actually finished, but release was cancelled. Someone probably still has translated script.

I've played Persona 2 before 3 and 4, and the tone is almost completely different. While 2 is set in a highschool just like 3 and 4, the characters seem much more grounded in reality and less like anime stereotypes (this is specially true in P4).
