I;ve got a Dreamcast and currently burned some discs:
Skies of Arcadia
Crazy Taxi
Densha de Go 2
Rainbow Cotton
Sega Rally 2
Half-Life

Could you suggest any other interesting or your favourite games?

Gonna choose to highlight Gundam Side Story. Fuckin' awesome Mechwarrior type of game with beam sabers and Zakus, what more could you want?

Soul Calibur, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Ikaruga, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, and Power Stones were played quite frequently with friends. I thought GigaWing 2 was kinda neat because it was a 4 player shmup. It was funny seeing huge explosions with spaghetti littering the screen and motion briefly slowing down to a crawl.

I just got a bunch of Taiyo Yuden JVC CD-R's and i've tried burning some games. Some games work, some just play as an audio cd straight away. Could this just be my laser?

What discs did you use? Success rate?

>>3429641
Mine plays the few cool-colors memorex discs i used first, but needs warmup time to read the regular memorex ones. Try letting the laser run for 20-30 minutes on a game that works and has a demo it needs to re-read when you leave it sit, then restart with a game that doesn't boot normally.

No one said it yet, so I'll say it: Shenmue and Shenmue II.

I've looked all over the internet and can't find a solution, so I'll ask here.
My copy of Rayman 2 does not recognize the VMU in my controller. I have more than enough space for the 4 block save file, and no other game has this issue with my 800 block VMU. What's wrong?

Can anyone help me remember a dreamcast game?

It was basically a third person big 3D arena for you to fight in. Some characters had swords while most had a unique gun. There were breakable things spread throughout the level that could give upgrades/health and if I recall correctly you can ditch your weapon for other characters weapons.

Can't remember if it was Half-Life itself or Paranoia, but I couldn't get past a certain part since it crashes a ton.

Definitely going to recommend Mars Matrix on Elite mode. It's the best fun ever. Gauntlet Legends is also super fun, but if you happen to have a PS2 just play Dark Legacy just because it has way more dungeons.

I do enjoy the novelty of PC centric games being played on a console, but I cannot find any reason to stomach Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, and Half-Life on a single analog controller. This only really works with N64 where the games were built for it, like AI and the generous auto aim.

>> No.3430228

>>3430225
Really? I actually liked turning with the triggers in Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament. You should also check out OutTrigger which has maps designed for arcades but happen to play really well for controllers rather than sticks.

As far as I'm aware, the only point and click for Dreamcast is a SCUMMVM homebrew port of Sam & Max. Also, most FPS games on Dreamcast support mouse and keyboard. Enjoy the novelty.

Opinions on this? I'm interested in getting this but was wondering how is the gameplay. From some videos I've seen there doesn't seem to be a lot of combat but plenty of exploration. I hear it also gets really hard at times. Graphics look amazing though which got me interested.

If your Dreamcast is earlier than Oct 2000 (most probably), you're all right.

It depends on the revision. 0 and 1 will accept CD-R's for games, 2 won't. Check underneath your Dreamcast.

Turn your Dreamcast over and look at the number in the small circle. If it says 0 or 1, you can play burned games. If it's a 2, I don't think you can.

It's good. It's basically diablo but with a twist and some neat details like your boot type deciding how audible and from how far are your steps to the enemy for example. It's the first and probably last time I saw such a mechanic. Also has lot's of dungeons to explore and side content.
