Per the thread and/or backstory it's actually a quote reviewing the N64 version taken waay out of context (perhaps the original was just saying "take a look at this") and presented in contrast of Mario and Nintendo. Kind of clever if you ask me.

To be honest, as a pure game, it's pretty awful.

But I have never, before or since, seen a better adaptation of Tolkien into some outside format. Athelas is pretty consistently found in the west side of old Dunedain ruins. They actually put in some of Tolkien's conlangs as part of the in-game text if your characters read something that they don't have the appropriate lore skill to decipher. You have elves complaining over differences in their various "ethnicities". It's brilliant, and they REALLY did their homework on this one.

I still have this. The dungeon game was like Diablo but more intricate. You could starve to death, had to balance your nutrition, you could essentially wind up with osteoporosis if you had too few minerals in your diet which wrecked your defense, lots of other things.

This game was a gem wrapped in shitty fighter packaging. You guys missed outhe.

idk why other people are bagging this one as being 'obscure'.

I played this game and loved it and never heard or saw a fucking thing about it besides the PC Gamer demo disc that came with it and Monolith's website.

Most of the people I've been friends with are also gamers and nobody has ever said a word about it IRL either. Its a shame too because they actually did a really nice job with it. Especially the scaling between on foot and mech missions.

Not just in level format but how big the weapons are on the screen, differences in movement, the height of your mech relative to things like the terrain.

Here is another obscure shooter that I have never seen anyone mention. Not here, not in gaming magazines, not anywhere but another PC Gamer demo disc. For the longest time I couldn't even find a torrent for this.

A really great game too. Setting was great, had a futurist Mad Max appeal, 1st game that I ever played with on foot AND vehicular combat as a free flowing option. Killer arsenal too, all the different faction vehicles had their own weapon sets and different vehicles had individual loadouts too.

It's also really fucking hard in some places, especially the "race through a minefield against the clock or your car explodes" mission about halfway through.

Laggy, somewhat non-responsive;
The game itself is shit. there is very little actually going on in it. You bump into things to fight or interact with them. No really. to get NPCs to do whatever they do (and generally each NPC has a single function) you bump into them for a set period of seconds while they spout off multiple lines explaining what they do. Some require you to say "yes" or "no" but, they don't really understand anything other than that. They also don't acknowledge anyone who isn't bumping into them; and the vast majority of them can only handle one person at a time.

Owned it. I'm surprised the game even has a medium sized backstory.

I actually do remember playing this. Was one of the first games I played alongside Parappa the Rapper and some Hockey game my dad got.

Took me a long ass time to re-discover it because I couldn't remember the title and Battletanx was the only thing that came to mind for some reason.

I played the shit out of Tiny Tank. That game was balling. Favorite levels where the blimp level and the level where you road train tracks. Awesome game. I picked it up recently in a pawn shop bargain bin. Unfortunately the disc had a bunch of crap all over the front. When I booted it up on my PS2 connected to a rear projection TV, it looked like complete and utter shit.

As bland as this game was, I realize now that it was directly responsible for making me have a thing for chicks in non-slutty armor and other such warrior women.
