Dynamite Cop and Zombie Revenge - Dreamcast.

Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara - Steam or Saturn or Arcade.

Armored Warriors - Arcade.

Kirby Super Star. It's especially good to play with casuals because the 2nd player can't die permanently.

Good stuff, and speaking of disney+capcom, Magical Adventure 3 is another amazing co-op game. I guess the other Magical Adventure games (aka Mystery Circus or whatever) are also good, never tried those.

My all time favorite coop experiences growing up had to be:

Kirby Superstar - played endlessly with my friend one summer, the variety of classes and levels make this a real blast, if it is a bit on the easy side. It's great to play with someone who maybe doesn't have the most skills as 2p since Kirby can revive his helper at any time by capturing a new enemy.

Contra 3 - It's a lot more fun with 2 players but it does make the top down levels a bit more frustrating with split screen. Fun for everyone on easy but best with a gaming bro where you really try to beat it.

Gunstar Heroes - best played with another avid gamer since when you revive you take up half your partner's life. If you play with someone who sucks you might find yourself unable to get through the long-ish levels. However it does have infinite continues.

Streets of Rage 2 - It's pretty easy with 2 players so you can expect to beat the game with minimal continues even if you're playing with less-experienced friends. My favorite beat em up and a true arcade experience on a home console.

Great co-op, and a huge game world without any loading screens or transitions, a fact which I always thought should have been considered a bigger deal at the time

Love this game co-op because one player controls the movement of the mech and the other controls the weapons. I believe the SNES game called Mechwarrior 3050 is the same.

The game is also interesting because it flashes a TMSS screen on startup even if it's not running on a TMSS console.

played this with my buddy on friday night, we made it all the way to the final boss and got a game over. that last level was a chore, and the booze was wearing off.

Gauntlet 1,2,4 are good 4 player games. 3 was two player.
