Original (non-Dual Shock) Director's Cut is the best. What's RE Dual Shock Edition?

Director's Cut, vanilla drops auto-aim from the Jap version which makes some parts way more hard in a not fun way. DC Dual Shock's redone OST isn't quite as bad as some people say (there are actually a few tracks I like) but it's still inferior to the original and the addition of Dual Shock controls don't really add anything to the game. It's also the version on PSN in the U.S. so it's the easiest to get your hands on.

Also, am I the only one who thinks the sketchy, drab title screen that they used in early builds looks great?

DS is easily the best version. Rebirth mode aside, being able to skip Cutscenes (most of them, at least) and door animations is a blessing for reruns. L-knifing is great and 180º turn is a great addition.

Now if only 2 and 3 had been ported to DS...

Even in the "classic" mode of the DS version, it's very different from the original experience:
- all 3D models were redone from scratch
- you carry the knife on you at all times without it taking space in your inventor,y and you can use it anytime RE4 style with a shoulder button
- 180° turn
- to compensate for those new moves, zombies have a better AI, and are much harder to dodge.

Honestly it's a great version but it's not the original experience really. DS mode is shit though.

This. You might think the changed music isn't as bad as people let on but no, really, it seriously is. It's an insult, sounds like it was made by an atonal deaf dumb blind child flopping on a keyboard. Although that track where you meet Wesker again in the guardhouse is pretty good.

All in all, the dual shock versions are completely pointless as RE is best played with the D-pad.

Guys, you're all forgetting the gbc master race version. Casuals.

As a bio1 speedrunner, it must be the japenses version. The fastest version is the biohazard original directors cut. The PC japanese version is also pretty amazing to speedrub because of door skips and fast camera changes. However you cant cancel autoaim which make Black Tiger really fcking annoying because it can kill your run if you miss the webs.
