You should know the 2nd Metal Gear game is better in every way imaginable. I wasn't a huge fan of the first game, but the 2nd one is so good it almost makes up for it.

Don't neglect to make use of the radio contacts. There are one or two calls you have to make to Jennifer that are slightly bullshit.

Aside from that it's a pretty great game that's oddly successful at what it does. The enemies have pretty pathetic sight but their placement and the level design actually keep things interesting stealth wise anyway. MG2 manages to be even better and is one of the best Metal Gear games period, so be sure to try that one even if you don't care for MG1 much.

Schneider's frequency number is 120.79. For some reason, they never tell you that in the manual, even though they expect you to know it.

Also, some trucks in the early areas of the game have enemies inside them, but they'll leave if you wait a bit. That's when you should enter them.

>> No.3377065

>>3377003
really? So it´s not like every other fucking Metal Gear, where frequencies are automatic once discovered? you have to manually set up the dial to talk with Schneider?

I will play MG2 as soon as I finished MG, anyways is good to know things improve in the next one!

apparently, there are no online emulators for this for the msx version. I watched the angry nintendo nerd's review. There was one for metal gear 2 and from jst the intro I have to say I was stoked, it looked so good, the sound was excellent, hard to believe a game like that came out in 1990. But it was too slow for my computer.

Just emulate the extras disc that came with MGS3 Subsistence in PCSX2 you dummy.

>> No.3377414

okay, so I played it for around 40 minutes. I saved in the second elevator you see, the one who can moves trought all the floors (or at least that looks like, compared to the first one)
I picked the second card and made all the way back to the begining looking for doors that lvl1 card didn´t play.
I managed to find a shitons of weapons (actually this games features more weapons than MGS by the now, wtf!), and also found the supressor.
The gameplay feels pretty solid, it genuinely makes you feel sneaking in the base. Even scrolling back to the stage you came from is tense, since you don´t know if some guard may be near the spot. Altought difficult, it didn´t feel unfair or unbalanced (yet). I still don´t remember scrolling and having a guard looking at me, or things like that. anyways, the gas room is a pain in the ass. I understood that you can open the door, then equip gas mask and THEN enter, but you will lose life by any means trying to get out on the next door.
Anyways i´m having a great time.
Oh, also I saved Diane´s codec, but didn´t look for Schneider frequency, although Big Boss is frequently talking about him. Are you sure guys that there´s no other way to talk to him than manually looking for his frequency? that doesn´t even looks like some 4th wall breaking a lá looking for the codec in the back of the case in MGS. this feels like they fucking forget about it.

Metal Gear 2 soundtrack is godly

Hope you're playing the fan translation, I hear the official English release has a lot of cut text. Use the radio a lot and talk to your support crew to figure out what to do, as with every MG game.

>>3377075
If you're not having a laugh Metal Gear Solid is Metal Gear 3.

>> No.3377667

>>3377251
No need. MSX emulators are not hard to find, and MG1 and 2 both have fan translations.

>> No.3377682

>>3377661
That's only for the original European release. The one included with Subsistence/MGS3HD is complete.

Also OP, if you accidentally kill more than two hostages you might as well reset your whole game. You need to be a four star rank to complete the game, otherwise you can't call Jennifer or destroy Metal Gear.

>> No.3377913

>>3377251
I 'm not OP and where do you come up with the idea that I even have or understand those terms?

>> No.3378351

>>3377682
OP here. I´m playing the MGS3HD version, so as far as I know it is properly translated.
How can you kill prisioners in the first place? I enter their room, talk to them, and after exit they are gone. Perhaps I punched the first one, but nothing happened. I have saved like 4 or 5 if I remember correctly. a couple of them, due to some backtracking once I got lvl2 card. Im currently on the second elevator, the one with 4 access to all floors

IIRC you can beat most bosses by hiding in a corner and using the remote control missile?

this one is also amazing. fucking theme of tara. how the fuck did the composer write a short song you listen for pretty much the whole game, and actually you don´t get bored of it?

>How can you kill prisioners in the first place?
By shooting them. Surely you can imagine a sitation where you press the fire button by mistake.

Also there's a genuine spoiler on the next line.
...a boss who uses human shields.
