u wot m8? You don't make the 'O' sound twice.

Anyway, it's Hydrocity (hi-drocity) because fuck you it sounds cool.
But it's Sando polis, not Sandopolis.

Depends on where you're from. Sega means Service Games, so it should seg-ah. But in the Sonic games the title says Say-gah, and in Australia and New Zealand the adverts said See-gah.

Why do you keep putting an hyphen in the middle? There isn't one in any official material. It's a pun on Hydro and Velocity. Thus, Hydrocity.

>> No.3289479

>>3289458
It's a compound word, and following the rules of how to read English, it's pronounced "Hydro-city." This isn't really up for any debate since, again, hydrocity itself isn't a word.

>Why do you keep putting an hyphen in the middle?

We keep putting A hyphen in it because we're separating the word into its phonetic components.

> It's a pun on Hydro and Velocity.
We already use velocity to describe the speed of water. We don't call the speed of a car its autocity, do we?

>> No.3289497

>>3289479
>hydrocity itself isn't a word

It's a proper name, just like Sandopolis. If it wasn't a whole new word it would just get spaced.

>We already use velocity to describe the speed of water.

The fact that you bring up Sandopolis and DON'T recognize the theme when Hydrocity comes up is baffling.

Hydro-city. Sand-opolis. These are compound words wherein the first part evokes a feature of nature, combined with a feature of man made urban planning.

>It's a proper name

That doesn't preclude it from being a compound word.

Hydro City.

>>3289114
None of those. It's Say-Ga, if you're going to pronounce it with a western accent. Otherwise, it's セガ.

And finally, about Sandopolis. The suffix is -Polis, so strictly speaking this is a compound of Sando and Polis. However, the Sando portion comes from a stylized and not so accurate translation of サンドポリス. Technically, it should be translated as Sandpolis. But for whatever reason, whoever wrote the English version of the name went with Sando. It was probably just a Japanese error or possibly a stylistic choice, but it's not a strictly correct transliteration.
