The graphics have aged poorly, and yes, the graphics are so bad it almost makes the game confusing, but the gameplay really hasn't. It's pretty much top-down 2D gameplay with a modernized touch.

I'll just hand you this fact: texture resolution in MGS2/MGS3 hardly ever changed from MGS1. The game is not confusing in the least. You may argue the absence of mipmapping/LOD doesn't do the low resolution any favor but I can still make out everything I need to make out.
