There were, but they aren't /vr/

Bart VS the World was actually pretty decent once you got gud. VS the Space Mutants was pretty damn bad though.

>> No.3261139

The arcade one alone makes up for the lack of good console games.

>> No.3261178

Of course there is, haven't you ever played the very not retro game Hit and Run?

>> No.3261191

Hit and Run was average with recycled or mediocre jokes.

Still fun gameplay

>> No.3261195

bart's nightmare was the shit, faggots

>> No.3261197

They are not bad, the difficulty is just lopsided.
I had a lot of fun with Bart vs Space Mutants, Virtual Bart, Bart's Nightmare.

>> No.3261241

There's a lot of fucking terrible /vr/ Simpsons games like Krusty's Funhouse but the arcade game will always be a great time. It's pretty amazing it's so good considering the show itself was still in its first season and finding its feet.

>Bart vs Space Mutants
Enjoyed that game on the NES and I remember it being hard as hell

>> No.3261282

Yeah it's the type of game that's actually improved by saves states.

>> No.3261297

Hit and Run, as mentioned before. It wasn't GTA, but nobody expected much of a Simpsons game and it turned out surprisingly good for what it was. It could easily have been Body Harvest instead.

I seriously don't get why people think Krusty's Funhouse is shit.

Not sure how they worked that out however.

Unfortunately most Simpsons games were made by Acclaim who decided to milk the license for all it was worth and churn out tons of low-quality horse dook.

Sounds like you need to git gud at VS the Space Mutants.

The controls are fucked up, but once you get use to them and you figure out that holding the jump button after jumping, lets you run, it's not that bad.

I liked it too. Light platform with some well-laid puzzles and the Master System version looked pretty good for the system.

Probably trough this.
I mean, the game ain't terrible, but it ain't that good.

>>3262197
Yeah, it was pretty cool in that "interactive cd rom" era kind of way. Not really a "game" as such, but a fun toy if you were a Simpsons fan back in the day.
I used to browse it in between playing Simpsons Doom.

I used to rent Virtual Bart a lot as a kid. Loved the tomato throwing level and the slide especially. The baby level would've been fine if not for the music. The rest were OK but nothing special. I do also realize it's not a good game overall.

It was a crappy version of GTA, face it. It was only worth playing if your parents wouldn't let you play San Andreas.

I always felt Bart Vs the space mutants would have been more fun if it had been more of an adventure kinda game.

Like Beavis & Butthead later did.

>Roaming around Springfield, doing quests.

>> No.3263647

Not console, but I loved the arcade game so much as a kid.

Replayed it recently and felt it didn't hold up, the gameplay is just so shallow, even for a beat-em-up. Shame.

>> No.3264343

Krusty's Super Fun House and Virtual Bart were probably the more decent ones of those that I played, although I have started to realize in recent years that Virtual Bart's kinda crap (music's alright too)

>>3263647
I have that opinion regarding Konami's licensed BEUs in general, they're really shallow in comparison to other games in the genre at the time.

TMNT Hyperstone Heist is still GOAT, though.

Hit n Run isnt even a real open-world game like GTA, bunch of hubs.
It's alright.

My personal favorite Simpson game is Road Rage

This. The Simpsons arcade game is the only retro Simpsons game that's legitimately good, although the tomato/egg throwing minigame in Virtual Bart is good. Shame that wasn't its own thing.

There were, they just aren't retro. Simpsons hit and run and "the simpsons game" were both pretty great. Virtual Bart was a favorite of mine as a kid, I still feel a lot of the minigames hold up in that.

The tomato thing was kinda fun if you took turns playing with friends.
And that Road Rash-style motorcycle game woulda been fun if it hadn't been so brief and simple.
Overall this game was an honest effort/10
