hello, sorry if this belongs more in /v/ but I was wondering if there were other games than FFT and to some extent tactics ogre that employed old-timey or verbose english in their dialogue?

I find that the extra effort makes them very engaging but mostly it's just cool.

The translation of FFT for WotL was sickeningly verbose trash. The PSX translations, with all of its Engrish, is superior to "Magicks"

That said, what you're looking for is referred to as "purple prose". Tvtropes has a sample of games that feature it.

Magick is a terrible word invented by a guy who liked to fuck literally everyone in the ass and probably doesn't belong in anything that's so wholesome and idealistic at is core as Yasumi Matsuno's Final Fantasy Tactics.

I like how rescuing this bitch was completely optional.

maybe a lack of freedom and a massive, persistent sense of the burden of destiny which puts your very life at risk outside of your control is part of the narrative

he can't have been the first guy to stick a 'k' at the end of magic, also I wouldn't call FFT idealistic. in fact it is darkest and most cynical final fantasy game I can think of.

in which version?

interesting, you deserve points for creatively rationalizing it.
