Pat the nes punk is worth subbing to. He is really funny but also very informative. He also does a podcast called the completely unnecessary podcast with a friend of his callled ian who works in a video game store. They both really know their stuff and have some wacky funny stories sometimes

Also another worth subbing to is dsp aka darksydephil. While he plays more modern games you will sometimes catch him playing something really cool like crash bandicoot 3 or some other golden oldy. Between all of his and pat the nes punks videos you wouldnt need any others

One more for you guys. The infamous video game wizard, aaron kosharsky. He has a fly in the wall type series showing the trials and tribulations of running a retro video game store. He also stars and produces the koshanskys, a reality type show, will become a classic for sure. He is also one of the lucky ones that plays games and has a hot girlfriend as well.

SilverMongooseVideos is one that I've been subscribed to for years.

His videos are informative and have a "comfy" feel in my opinion. He does a variety of videos, such console and game reviews, but he also has videos titled under his "My take" and "Gaming favorites" series that feature 1-2 hour discussions about topics such as game music and different series.

His videos have a more serious approach and cut the crap that a lot of other gaming channels have.

I don't think that's true at all. They give a decent overview of each game they cover and run footage in the background to back up what they're saying. They talk about basic trivia and compare to other games of the era, too. It's pretty impressive how much info they fit into a small amount of time IMO.

The one Youtube channel I subscribe to that isn't 1) already popular and 2) is specifically about /vr/ material is Old Game Box.

The videos are nothing special per se, just an assortment of short reviews, some pure gameplay footage, some DIY guides on making your own game boxes, some wallpaper making videos and that kind of stuff. But there's a feeling of genuine enjoyment behind the videos that keeps me coming back for more. I can't even really put it into words. I can just feel that the guy isn't doing this out of delusions of grandeur or a wish to make money. Just having fun making videos about games. I like that.

But I also understand that with the way that fair use works others have the ability to use my content just as I have the ability to use theirs to a degree. You couldn't give less of a shit about ad revenue if you're making that much from patreon, so you just demonetize your channel. To host videos on your own website would cost way more than just doing whatever.

People aggregate to youtube because you don't have to go to a website to see all the content you want.

The idea of a dedicated website is probably dying out. You've got things like facebook, and youtube to get updates and the content so it almost doesn't seem worth it to have a dedicated site anymore.

I've had a youtube channel for 10 years. Thanks to advertising revenues and me not having ads on my channel the algorithms hide my shit. I'd put up a video in 2010 and get 500 - 1000 views over night. Now I'm lucky if I get 100 views in a month. It's sad.

There are a lot of factors but if you're earning jewgle money your videos get recommended more. I went from getting thousands of views to getting 80 -130 views. It's disheartening. If you don't release things regularly enough it won't inform people. People that watch one of my series get notifications about those uploads but not about my main project. It's way shittier then it was in 2010 when shit would spread organically.

They have youtube ad revenue, AND a patreon.

They also started a second channel simply for the increased revenue. They say it's because they want the content on the main channel to be better, but really they just want the increased revenue stream from daily content on their second channel.
