I feel extremely bad for not wanting to vote for Cyclone City and Rampaging River.
Don't get me wrong, they look extremely nice, but goddamn they're just so huge. I have no fucking idea how to plan a park in those, so I just resort to spaghetti-ing the fuck out of them which is pretty fun, but still.

Apparently my Howling Meadows landscape save is gone for some reason.
I didn't mean for it to end up in the contest anyway, regardless. If it doesn't work then whatever.

the transitions between a lot of track elements are extremely rough and look like absolute hell to ride, the corkscrew would probably kill you, which at least you wouldn't feel since you'd most likely black out on the first loop.

You've got two main problems, very harshly placed track and you're going much too fast though the inversions. You can get away with much higher and larger and more steeply banked curves than it appears you think you can.

Not if you do fastpass. If you ever go to Disney World, abuse the fuck out of it. You can only register three rides at a time, but as one ride ends, it opens up another slot. Schedule your rides as early as possible, and choose high-demand rides as soon as you can/ Every time you finish one activity, hit up another fastpass booth to schedule another activity.

You can experience like three quarters of Epcot's rides and shows by using fastpass alone. Not too sure about MK,. but I'd estimate probably half the park in one day.

Are all of these safe?

I had one of these beautiful fuckers crawl on me once. It landed on me as I was getting into my car and felt it crawling up my back inside my shirt as I was driving. I didn't know what it was at first, thought maybe a beetle. I hold open my shirt and it crawls out onto my finger. Fortunately I was able to stay calm and not wreck. He just sat there on my arm, cleaning his antennae, and eventually flew out the window without stinging me. So yeah, hornets are actually pretty docile. Wasps and yellow jackets on the other hand will sting you for no reason from my experience.

For starters you can't click and drag to make paths. It has to be from 1-5 "units" which most the time causes paths to not connect correctly since the game most the time will treat your current path as a something completely different instead of auto connecting paths.

All shops/stalls/enterances/exits also auto snap to paths, however most the time they will be completely retarded and for some reason not find the path even when they are right next to it. You also can't have 2 intersections right nest to each other so all shops have to have minimum 1 unite between them otherwise one of the shops will not auto connect to the path.

I think I'll add archways over the supports of the bridge so the path isn't so damn boring, as great as this scenery group looks, it is very limited.

Any suggestions on the goal for this scenario? I have absolutely no idea what would make it challenging and fun. I don't want to force people to spaghetti in order to win, because it ruins the point of putting so much detail into the islands anyway, yet at the same time I want to give a good challenge (maybe harder guest generation and no advertising etc?. It's for people super anal about organizing their orders.

If you have an area of tons of coasters for example, and they all have 10 minute inspection timers, once they start breaking down, your mechanic will be busy fixing them, letting others fall behind on inspection. It's more efficient later in the game to have one mechanic set to inspect, and another to patrol each area.

I don't even set patrols for my mechanics though honestly.

Ok, it's done for now. I really wanted to expand the reef, adding a second one near the smaller Atoll. Unfortunately however, RCT has an object limit and that reef is entirely composed of spammed 1/4 objects overlapping each other. Even if I managed to keep it under the limit, I want to give players freedom to build as much as they like. I'll add more/less underwater scenery based on what /vr/ wants, but I won't do another full-sized reef.

I've yet to actually playtest this either, due to a lack of time (I will play it eventually), so if there are any issues with difficulty (too easy, too hard, to boring etc) let me know and I will fix it. I also pretty much random shuffled the research order, moving a few ez mode rides down the bottom leaving it alone otherwise, so it might be a bit fucky.

In your situation I'd lower the hill just below the sawmill and build an exclusive 2 platforms for the wood trains so the entrance to your station doesn't bottleneck like that. You might want to look into pre-signal stations too, they are much more simple than they sound and are way more efficient than your average path signal terminus.

>Path signal spam on your lines

pretty disgusting senpai, path signals make the game run poorly (especially when everybody uses them on a server), just use block signals, they do the exact same thing on a straight track. Path signals are only needed at junctions.

Since there's no thread and some guy already asked, I might as well ask a TTD question that's stumping me at the moment, if anyone here knows their signals?

Here's what I want to do:
I ideally want to have my line look like Wintfield East. What I'd like to happen is have 6.0 length passenger trains come down the line, stop at the station for passengers, then proceed onwards. Meanwhile I want 5.0 length freight trains to divert into the siding, drop their cargo off, start coming back the way they came and cross over the tracks to the main line heading back the way the freight train came, while any 3rd train would have to wait behind the second light or risk blocking the freight trains exiting. Is this possible with signals or some sort of trickery?

If that's not possible at all, then I'd like to have my station be like Wintfield South, same deal with the passenger trains only with the freight trains coming via the branch line, dropping off their cargo before switching over to the opposing main line track. Any freight train would have to wait behind two signals and not just one, otherwise the second freight train would be preventing the first one from leaving. What signal types would I have to place and where to achieve this?

Anyone know the answer?

Okay, after mulling over it for half a day, plus reading about (and mostly failing to understand) how signals work on the wiki, this is the best I've been able to come up with.

Passenger trains get told to go via 'Halt' before reaching 'East', forcing them into the main line platform. There's one entry signal and an exit signal with I think(?) will force any waiting passenger train to wait for the station to be free before continuing, so as not to block the switch tracks.
Freight trains get told to go via 'Branch' before reaching 'East', forcing them into the branch platform, before being told to go via 'Sidings' when it is clear in order to head back for more goods.

Will this work 100% correctly? Am I fucking anything up at all?

Ok senpai, it has been literal years since I played OTTDcoop and was using prios and logic trains etc. I fact, I haven't actually had the motivation to play OpenTTD at all.

So keep that in mind when you look at pic related, I was trying to keep it efficient (but really, it isn't. You'd want any straight track to be exactly 6 pieces long, which means making that bit between the crossover and the stations really long and ugly). I'm also used to left-hand driving so I had to try and mirror everything in my head. You could obviously modify this to look closer to what you want, pic related is simply an example of combined ro-ro/terminus pre-signal stations. The bypass track which goes around the station isn't needed but you should consider it to prevent trains with fucky orders clogging up the line.

The bridge is needed, if the tracks cross over it'll count as a single block for the signals, but a single tile kink in the track to prevent the bridge (or tunnel, your choice) will slow you trains down a lot.

What you have there would have a lot of jams because the trains are too long , you'll notice a lot of slowdown.

Does it absolutely HAVE to be longer? I want this station as basically being for almost exactly same purpose as pic related (goods trains came from the north, dropped off at the station, turned around at the U turn to the south and jammed everything up for a while), I don't mind if it jams a bit as long as it doesn't take up much space and at least works in that passenger trains will wait at the entry signal no matter what until the mainline platform is free, that's the part I'm worried about. If the freight train has to wait for traffic in the station a little or in the branch block, I can live with that as long as it takes up minimal real estate.

It will work, but if you keep expanding the line you'll be in trouble, eventually there'll be too many trains for the station to handle. In a comfy metropolis station like that, you could use a waiting bay before the station further down the line, but that can look pretty ugly.

This is literally the most complex signal work I've ever delved into, I usually just have my trains flow through a loop with a big station at the end identical to this:

I believe raising the speed of the lift can actually cause the ride to become less reliable. There's a function that compares the lift speed to the minimum speed of the overall ride and if it's higher then the ride's reliability will decrease by some amount.

The chairlift's reliability is heavily dependent on the ride speed. The ride speed is doubled and added to the overall (un)reliability factor.

People leaving in a pay-to-enter park is the exact thing you want to happen. You make the vast, vast majority of your money off park entry tickets. However, there's a cap on the number of guests RCT will spawn, so if all your peeps are happy and not leaving, no more guests will spawn, no more guests will enter your park and you get no money. One way to do that is to put in no ATMs so that the guest run out of money and leave. The better way to do it is to just close the park for a few months every so often to get rid of all the guests. If all your guests are leaving and nobody is coming back to replace them, your park is just shit and you suck.

Easily the worst game I have ever played, and that's not an exaggeration.

The basic construction system and graphics aren't bad, but it all goes to shit because of one thing. There are EXTREMELY strict limits on how much you can build, even in the "sandbox" mode. I'm talking:
>2 track rides (1 if it's too big)
>5 flat rides
>20 PIECES OF SCENERY

Wouldn't recommend it to anyone, returned it the very next day.

I don't have it myself but you can convert the sound bites manually. Like half of the .dat files in the "data" folder are just standard .wav(PCM) files. You can change the extension and they'll work in any media player. You can also convert them to flac, vorbis, mp3, etc

>>3208792
You can still benefit from the reduced filesizes. Flac compresses stuff down to like 1/3rd to 1/5th of its original size. Lossy at a high bitrate is probably the better option though

>> No.3208879

>>3208792
wav and flac are both lossless, so it's just handy to use flac for smaller file size. The stupid thing is when people convert mp3 to flac.

just play all the scenarios for 1 + 2 on openrct2, it isn't a whole new game it just adds new options and compatibility + multiplayer.

Get Crappage's RCT1 scenario recreations from the OP, they are as close as you can possibly get if you want to play them in RCT2. You'll probably also find that a lot of the rct2 scenarios (that come with the game) are bland and either too easy or just outright boring anyway. most of the /vr/ scenario pack is full of dank memes, but there really is a lot of fun scenarios hidden away in there that are beautiful or stick to the RCT1 style.

For the most part, these days people use NE for autism parks and post on the rct subreddit for advice/casual play like we do here.
