He's just one of those uncompromising artists that managed to get their actual vision into production before Indie games and digital distribution. Of course the people who "get" their work will celebrate them but then comes the bandwagoning.

Is this your first time being late hearing about someone you would have liked if not for all the douchebags?

I discovered him ~5 years ago, just as the waves of fans rolled in. His stuff's OK, but not deserving of triple-digit price tags.

It obviously is since that's what it's selling for

It's too bad there's no way to play video games without paying market price for them...

Yes, this sounds like a much better thread

/vr/ is like the only damn place I even hear about Sato, how is he overrated?

>> No.3157580

>>3157527
Everyone in his little fan community praises his games for their weird story and audiovisual presentation, but the actual gameplay is mediocre and does not justify the amount paid for the software. Sato himself admits that he was never interested in making or playing games, which would explain the quality of his interactive titles.

If people praised the gameplay I might agree with you

maybe some people like weird ideas in video games

the current crop of video game development is so devoid of weird risky titles that sato's work feels like a revelation, i can see why someone would be a fan of his work as far as we know it since a lot of his games are lost
