Why are there so many YouTube threads on here these days? That's what's triggering.

It hurts my brain when people say it's one the best video games ever made, or the best video game ever made. Just going by the controls, the physics, the backtracking, the bosses, and platforming.......other games do all of those things 10x better. It's certainly a nice sum of its parts, but for me it's not a legendary gaming experience. Prime 1 and Zero Mission are only inferior in terms of the overall world design, arguably. I've picked up SM up so many times and just went hngghhh this isn't that fun and fuck my autism making it hard to enjoy games because online opinions.

Tbh this goes to show how spetacular Super Metroid is.

Those kids grew up with movies, games, tv, with special effects that are several orders of magnitude greater than what the SNEs is capable of.

But you see in their eyes how entranced they are by this.

It's pretty cool.

I'm 18 and I could speed run the game 100%. Not as refined as actual speed runners by any means but I can get all items in close to 1:30 in game time. Surprisingly that is how I first started the game other than the mock ball trick and a few missiles I went through the game blind. It was one of the most fun experiences I had.
