What's the verdict on the Mega Man Legacy Collection?

>> No.3130870

It's shit.

>> No.3130873

It's great, highly recommended.

>> No.3130874

That you're paying for actual ROM files and there is absolutely no reason to pay money for the same files you and just go out and download.

If you absolutely have to have a mega man collection, get the Anniversary Collection (PS2 version preferably) That way you also get 7, 8, and the two arcade games.

>> No.3130875

>>3130863
they took the anniversary collection, removed some games from it, and added a ''challenge mode'' that is basically the same calibre shit as NES Remix. oh and 'HD' like that fucking matters.

Such a waste of time they had to stick each version with an exclusive figure to sell them.

It's not as easy to just sell roms

Half of all retro games can never be released in any form because getting the licensing for anything movie related is basically impossible.

Any Nintendo game is our of the question for anything other than a Nintendo console

There's such a small number of games that a third party console could even sell

The Nintendo virtual console is about the most inclusive rom library you can realistically get

Anniversary Collection is the best collection of classic MM games. Although it doesn't seem like much effort was needed since PS1 rockman games already had the Mega Man 8 hud used in AC. If you absolutely want Mega Man raw, you can disable the hud back to classic which also disables the remixes. Remixes of the music wasn't too bad either since they used the same style as MM8.

As far as Legacy collection goes, it was a wasted opportunity to bring over Megaman 9 and 10 on Windows. Whatever the plan was, I'm pretty sure people would have been fine with a rebranded Anniversary Collection and maybe a different menu too.

To be fair, they followed a similar formula with Resurrection that they did with HD Remix, a rerelease to gauge interest for an upcoming game, they just messed up by making it a compilation rather than just being a standalone rerelease of Vampire Savior.

I wouldn't say Legacy is a bad collection, but it's 10 years later than a better collection, so I don't really see the point in it, other than a cheap manipulative cash grab cashing in on a new wave of retro nostalgia (so typical capcom) it seems like capcom are getting lazier and greedier by the year, sadly.

It should contain 9 and 10 if it wants to be an 8 bit collection.
It should contain the GB games if it wants to be a 'legacy' collection (seriously the sonic collections did the game gear games so no excuse nearly FIFTEEN YEARS AGO)

Paying for emulated roms like that really is dumb. At the very least that shit should be a super smooth 60fps. I mean at least put SOME fucking effort into it.

I'd pirate it over paying for it if I didn't have money for sure. I got it for PS4 because of the convenience of just turning on your console and playing immediately on your TV instead of running through the emulation shenanigans. If you don't care for that convenience then definitely just pirate the roms m8.

Legacy Collection lets you fight any of the Robot Masters on demand, with a full arsenal.

>>3137959
It's okay, but not great. Complete Works is better overall. Legacy Collection doesn't have the neat gameplay related bonuses of CW other than being able to fight robot masters whenever you want. It also doesn't have any fixes/changes that were made in CW.

In addition, all of the games in the 3DS version of Legacy Collection drop a frame about once every 10 seconds or so. This isn't very noticeable unless you're really looking for it, but Mega Man 5 drops frames at all times for no discernible reason. Rockman 5 works fine other than the 1 out of 600 frames being dropped thing. However, you're forced to use Mega Man 5 in the challenge mode, and it's extremely jarring when one challenge goes between different games and one of those happens to be MM5.
