Also the mega man games are relatively easy, 2 is the easiest so it would probably be the best one for what you are looking for

Play Felix the Cat, it's really fun and easy.

Anything more slow paced? Say, along the lines of Harvest Moon? I suppose simple RPGs are fine too.

Mind you, not trying to mock the NES or anything. I got a bunch of more arcade-y games sitting around, and they're quite enjoyable. I'm just sometimes looking for something less hectic, and I'm confident it's out there in the NES library

In my opinion it is, nothing in 2 is really difficult. Also easy doesn't equal bad, Kirby's adventure is honestly one of my favorite games of all time. My personal favorite mega man is 4, also ine if my favorite games, but if OP just wanted something fun to breeze through I thought 2 would be best for that.

I'm not so sure on this, grinding can be a bit rough if not used to other nes/famicom jrpgs so I imagine it could be a bit stressful, also the game is a bit open ended which can be irritating. I love MOTHER but it sounds like OP wants something they could just breeze through

If you're looking for a laid-back strategy game where as long as you make the right choices you cannot lose, try Gemfire.

It's quite relaxing to watch the numbers go up, balance them out and take more land.

I haven't played any other Mega Man games, but I found 2 to be really easy, much easier than other NES games I've played like Super Mario Bros.

I don't think MOTHER really has any grinding. At least, I never found myself needing to grind, I just never ran from battles.

(And no, I didn't use the GBA translation's easy ring)

Legend of the River King will be perfect for you. It's a nice slow paced fishing RPG. Neat little battle system, very relaxed atmosphere and all around great game.

I always grind in MOTHER, when you leave your house, entering magicant for the first time, and when Llyod and Ana join your party always require me to grind. Personally I don't think the grinding is that bad but I imagine some finding it annoying. I guess with the easy ring no grinding would be required but it makes the game to easy in my opinion.
