A game like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 that you would recommend to a die hard homm3 player.

heroes of might and magic 2, the superior game

Not for me, but why would you call homm2 superior, not that i'm arguing with you because i know generally it's considered to be better, but why? Is it simply because it's older.

>> No.3036204

Master of Orion 1 for the very simple macromanagement of the empire, HOMM3-like turn-based combat, and a change of pace.

Otherwise, Age of Wonders, Battle of Wesnoth and the Disciples series.

Of course, Heroes of Might & Magic 2 is very good and still holds up because of nice graphics.

Where? It has nicer, sprite graphics, some better balance and an arguably better campaign (with branches and such), but HoMM3 just has more stuff in general and allows for more stuff. Even with all its balance issues, HoMM3 isn't just "pick Warlock town to win", and more strategies are possible, more customization.

HoMM2 is definitely recommendable though. It ties to M&M6, which many people consider to be the best entry in the main M&M series, has a pretty good storyline and fun maps, and it is, in general, the same concept that has been evolved in HoMM3. It's a compelling game.

I liked playing this game a little bit... but I super sucked at the battles and the battles seemed to take so long... losing your horse is devastating.

Dude i agree with you for me homm3 is far better but most of the people i know say otherwise without giving me real reasons why that is why i asked.

Disciples I & II and play them in order since they have a heavy story focus.
avoid 3 like the plague.

LOL. By who? A bunch of virgins on 4chan?
Everyone says heroes3 is the best. People over here just want to be edgy and contrarian.

As much as I want to tell you to fuck off to /v/, you are sadly correct. I have never seen an actual person say they prefer h2 to h3, and even here it wasnt as common until it got estabilished that homm III is actually a great game many people enjoy.

have you played Heroes Chronicles?

it is a bunch of single player campaigns for HoMM3 that were originally released as episodes.

I can't really recommend Wesnoth. It plays well, but it's "RNG: The Game".

How often do you see misses in HOMM3? Barely ever. You can go entire battles without seeing a single one. Wesnoth? "lol 80% chance to hit miss miss miss miss miss your berserker just died to a lv1 kek"

>> No.3036712

>>3036694
It really does make Wesnoth that much more prone to savescumming, which is how i beat the game basically.
Disciples also suffer from that, even if to a lesser extent. I don't know, maybe someone with better discipline than me could make it work.
I guess as for the recommendations, you can try Masters of Magic and King's Bounty.

Oh fuck I'm the one who wrote this trainwreck and I'm laughing at myself, thanks dude.

But yeah, anyway, the richness of user-made maps for HoMM3 and the tactics available therein kinda outstrip what HoMM2 is capable of is what I meant.
