Recent purchases thread, show us what you've bought lately.

I got a full Genesis/CD/32X monstrosity, I'm excited to try out the copy of Final Fight CD I've had for ages after it was mixed by mistake(?) into a Saturn lot by the seller. Only pain is that I need to order a few more cables to complete the absurd beast. I can run the CD on composite but not the 32X, which is a bummer since I mainly bought it for the improved composite output.

I also got 3 GB games, Bust-a-Move 4, Heiankyo Alien, and Q Billion. The last one was an unexpected surprise, and I'm enjoying it a good deal. I'm most happy that I got the Sega monster for about the cost of a CD alone these days, so I can't complain there. Everything works great too, far as I can tell at least. And I got a second 6-button, so overall very happy. Last thing on my list would be a mega everdrive so I can start playing/burning everything across the system. And maybe the spacer to go underneath my model 1 when it's in the model 2 CD.

How about you folks? Anything recent that you've obtained?

Whoops. Started another pick up thead after I somehow missed this. Anyway...
I went to 2nd & Charles today. The best score by far is the 6-button Genesis controller for just 7 bucks. It was stoked to find it! And I'm checking pricecharting.com right now and it seems I pretty much robbed them of Prophecy: The Viking Child which seems to go for about 11 bucks loose.

Got the Mega Drive + CD II combo from some britbong last month. He hadn't tested it out because one of the AC adapters had gone missing so it was sold as is. I took the gamble buying it because it looked like it was in pristine condition from the pics, and it paid off.
Both systems look virtually untouched as if the guy had started them up once and then just stashed it away again. Got two 3 button controllers (the later with the rocker style D-Pad) with it, also near mint condition.
I sold the MDII to my big sister and put the pictured chafed Model 1 on top of the Mega CD (I haven't gotten around to region modding the good looking one). Sadly, no extender piece was included.
Game-wise I got Puyo Puyo, Bonanza Bros. and a chink Everdrive MD.

What a coincidence, I was on the ropes about buying a Sega CD model 2.
I also have a unplayed copy of Final Fight CD that I have itching to try.
I did some homework and decided to not get the model 1 or model 2. I bought a JVC X'eye since there is no region locking and only 1 power brick.
I wish the mail would hurry up.

It's only region-free in the sense that it doesn't have the ridges on the cartridge slot so Japanese cartridges will fit, but any game that's encoded in software to be region-locked (i.e. most titles from 1993 and onward) will not play, exactly like the Genesis 3. Same goes with Sega CD games. Only US games will play on it.

I have no problems that are caused by the ones who cloned the cart, the problems I've had are supposedly there on the official Everdrive too.

It plays Genesis and Master System games with no problems, only game I've had trouble with yet was Megaman Wily Wars, but that can be played with a ROM patch. I do not have a 32x.

The Sega CD BIOS loading function is a bit iffy however. Some games don't work correctly with it; i.e. Snatcher displayed no text and Popful Mail wouldn't start unless I pushed the reset button once after loading the BIOS.
Krikzz is aware of the BIOS loader bugs, and he says himself that this is not fixable without a new hardware revision iirc. Most Sega CD games work without a hitch though.

Overall, it's pretty great and I'm more than happy with it. A steal at $30.

Dang, you got one for 30? That's a great price.

Shame to hear about the bios part though, that's a big reason I want one.

Incidentally, can you play the first phantasy star in English with FM sound on an everdrive? I'm sure a hack exists for that but I don't know if it would run on a flash cart or not.

Can confirm, was poor and only had a Genesis. Missed out on all the SNES classics in their prime.

Yeah, that's what I figured too. It was his price though, not mine.

Oh, and the least he could have done was not tell me that "something came up but it's still yours, we'll wait until tomorrow and I'll even come out your way" after I tell him that I am halfway there and got money out of the bank, and then never speak to me again.

Oh, and he also said that he had other games that he was willing to bring and sell. I did feel like it was too good to be true, but hey if he still wants fifty bucks for the saturn and games then here I am!

I would say that 40 is a price that is on the low side nowadays, actually. If you don't have one and see it for 50 dollars (with a controller and VMU at least), then that is probably a fair price.

so good price = 40 or under

fair price = around 50

bad price = 60 or above

Massive disappointment.

The enhanced edition has 2 new control schemes.
Mouse, which is probably just like the tablet version.
And controller, which is an abomination. They kinda got rid of the behaviours and just mapped actions to buttons. Run is A, attack is X and so on.

I can forgive the tutorial popups that tell you where to go and what to do, but the game is pretty unstable. I've played it through twice and it crashed a total of 7 times, 4 on the same area,
And it has an unusual bug whereby the framerate drops the longer you play. After half an hour I need to close it and reopen it just to give my eyes a rest.

Not happy.
