I shouldn't have even mentioned DQ, I don't even think I made it half way through but what I played didn't grab me. To be fair though, that's true of every single PS2 era RPG I tried. I was super big into them since the NES/GB days and when they got really big in the PS1 era I played through almost every one that came out.

By the end of the generation I was really burnt out on the whole genre and actually for many years (until Etrian Odyssey), BoF IV was the last JRPG I loved enough that I actually finished it.

I tried many, many when PS2 came along but every one including V bored me long before I finished. These days though I've been going back and dabbling with them a little more so if you guys are that passionate about it maybe I should try it out again.

Did it ever get a PC release? I don't know if I have a working PS2 anymore, it's been in storage for years and those things were built like shit.

I'm not sure who exactly, but in video game magazines before and around the time of the PS1 release it was often called the PSX. Gamefan did it a lot I remember. For me that's where the term stuck a little.

Also the "real" PSX was virtually unheard of, and even people who did know about it knew it wasn't what people meant when they used the term.

I know it's the >lel hipster troll opinion but Suiko1 and Persona came out at around the same time. Persona was so amazing then Suikoden felt like a generic fantasy romp again. It also didn't help that most of it seems political and realistic then you just fight a big dragon to win. The elves dying was cool though.

Suiko 2 was just so badly written and the combat so dull that I barely ever got anywhere in it.

Actually I'm not sure how people abbreviated it back then because I didn't have access to the internet in 1994/1995, and all the magazines just called it either PlayStation or PSX.
People I would talk to IRL would just call it "the Play".

I remember Gamefan and the internet mostly calling it PSX. At the college I went to near Toronto Canada people either called it PS1 or PSX most of the time.

I liked BoF1 back in the day so was excited for BoF2's release. When it came out, I bought it and grew quite bored of it pretty early in the game. I didn't even get all the characters.

I got further in BoF3 than I did in 2, but just as before, I grew bored of it at some point or other. I think after an onion/potato thing joined the party who is, IIRC, the final party member.

After two games in a row bored me so much that I never finished them, I skipped BoF4. Should I give the others another go or does anyone else agree that 2 and 3 were snorefests? Should I try 4 out after all?
