I keep hearing about this game...what is so great about it? I am a fan of jrpgs, yet I feel a bit burnt out on the genre, will this be a breath of fresh air?

Engaging combat, fantastic art design, great music, great visuals for Saturn , and your riding a badass flying Dragon that can morph into different dragons. Can't go wrong with that.

Worth playing? Absolutely. Worth paying $200+ for it? No.

Not sure about emulating. Never tried. Haven't heard great things about Saturn emulators tho. Heard the jap version is a lot cheaper if you can read moon or just don't care about knowing the story.

>> No.2856408

Emulation of it is not good. Get a real saturn with one of those action replay carts so you can play burned games, and away you go.

Saturn emulation was super shitty for a long time but is apparently better these days. Even if it's not 100%, it's better than shelling out the kind of prices the physical game goes for.

I just beat it last week, its short but its worth it. Imagine Parasite eve style battle (ATB) with a dragon. The graphics are okay but sometimes I dont know what the developers were imagining. The story is well written as well. The feeling of loneliness you get surrounding the world is fantastic. But I recommend playing at least PD and Zwei before this one especially zwei as there are many things that connect with it in terms of story that you might not get. Music is atmospheric but works well.

Saturn is really hard to emulate for because it's so weirdly designed. Emulators for it still aren't 100% so it's really not that bad a recommendation. Saturn is the only retro console I still keep around because of this. I've never found an emulator that can run Legend of Oasis to my satisfaction.

game was great, if you read reviews made back in the day, they all agree it was better than FF7.

But because it was released on the saturn and didn't have the 70 million dollars for marketing like FF7, the game was overlooked

>> No.2857219

Buy it at the going rate($350 for argument
sakes) then play it a couple times until you get it out of your system. Re-sell and either make a profit, break even, or sell for a loss. Even if you sell it for only $300 it's still well worth it for the experience and for $50 and now you have a majority of your cash back. Your welcome OP :^)

Honestly it's going to be very tough making such a list. There's a fuckton of great RPGs out there, none of them alike despite sharing a common genre. Ranking them is nearly impossible.
I'd say PDS gets to be in the best tier either way.

>there's a general consensus that emulation is not viable
So you are going to believe the people who clearly don't emulate Saturn games because they believe it to be impossible over the people who actually emulate Saturn games on a regular basis?

Your "general consensus" is usually:
>What do you mean the Saturn emulator in Retroarch isn't the best possible choice?
>Mount a CD? This is fucking trash (read: I don't know how to mount a CD)
>OMG it's open source I refuse to use it
>If one game out of a hundred is not 100% accurate that means the emulator is worthless
>I've never tried it but I always heard that the Saturn was stupidly designed and so clearly nobody can emulate it
>I tried using a really old build once years ago and it didn't run very well and clearly nothing has changed
