That level was pumping metal.

But the final boss, god, that's probably the most intense boss level in any shmup. Even more so than the last boss of Ikaruga. Because you have this system where your extra weapons are absurdly strong, so they are your best choice of damaging the boss... but if you accidentally get killed, you lose them, and the boss becomes three times more difficult.

And also that thing just looks so beautiful. It's a giant green junk mecha that grows butterfly wings and then a huge glass saber that it can charge up with a full screen electric blast, or just swing around in berserker patterns covering the entire screen (you can't avoid them, the only way to 1cc it is to kill it before it can get there, or have enough shields saved up).

The synth metal + organ theme also pumps up that boss twice as much, and then the ending is just beautiful.

I'm pretty much in a dilemma in Ikaruga... I 1cced the game on normal, and now I don't know wether I should play it on hard.

Hard mode is just hardcore as fuck, and the more I play it the more unlearn normal mode. But the more I play normal mode, the harder it will be to adjust on hard mode.

This is just hilarious. Of course playing against bad players is casual, but people seriously into fighters seek to play against people of the same or higher skill level because that's what makes it most fun.

Don't get me wrong, I love shmups. But they never react to you in the way a human opponent will. Your strategy is always just figuring out how to beat what the game has laid out for you, you don't have to think on your feet or have to try to out think an opponent.

That's what fighters are really about. All the perfectly practiced infinites and combos are no help at all if you don't understand the fundamental mind games and strategy.

Fighters suck when playing the computer because it's impossible to program AI that can even come close to a human player so they all have to cheat. When you bring living, thinking opponents into the mix though all comparisons go out the window. RNG is not really comparable to someone actively thinking against you.

Christ no you never want to bomb in progear as it depletes your gem counter. Basically you cancel bullets that are within a certain proximity to enemies with the fast shot (tapping A or auto C) and hold a to suck them in until the bottom right gem shows the most profitable diamond thing then you kill enemies with the focus shot when lots of bullets are within there proximity to cash in big, rinse repeat.

Honestly I think we should segmentate the shmup threads and make individual threads for different games/series/companies. Treasure and CAVE/Touhou fanboys REALLY don't get along well. I like both Cave and Treasure games so it's not my problem, but other people get especially (and by "especially" I mean autistically) butthurt about other people having different tastes, so they need to shitpost, they can't resist.

I don't know if making individual series/companies threads would solve anything, but we can try.
