You may notice a few things that seem off about this. The pristine shirt has already been mentioned, obituary, but there are more. Notice how he's holding a gas pump indoors. They don't tend to actually keep the gas pumps inside the gas station, do they? Check out the vintage gas canisters. Good luck finding those at a gas station. It's hard to tell, but I think you can see some arcade machines and pinball machines reflected in the window: something Romero would obviously keep in his home, being a video game developer and enthusiast. Do you see the Fire Chief Gasoline sign? That's a type of gasoline Texaco introduced in the thirties and advertised heavily throughout the following decades, but not anymore.

These are things I noticed within two minutes of looking at the image. I hope you've learned your lesson.

Dai-Katana had huge buildup and expectations to it, was constantly delayed, had a combative marketing campaign, and Romero was being a right cocky bastard at the time.

When it showed up years after it reasonably should have been released, it was dated, not very good, and caused a huge backlash.
Is it the worst game ever? Not by any means, but it was a massive disappointment, it was a painfully mediocre game that came out dated and failed to live up to it's gigantic hype

"Donkey" sounds a bit like "Don King", so it's one of those errors someone made and it catched on, with a lot of people thinking that's how you write it.
And when the old DK arcade game came it out it looked like King Kong, so there's that. Don can be either mean as in Boss or the Spanish version of Sir.

So eventually you get the people who grew out of games and never learn the proper name, who'll still call him Don King Kong, plus the people who just heard from their kid that he wants "the game with Don King Kong", and the rest who call him that out of habit.

I got Daikatana as a Christmas present a couple of years after it was released (probably cost about a fiver). I hadn't heard of it, but was enthusiastic about it and wanted to like it because fucking SAMURAI or something.

So anyway it was really bad and I got rid of it. Like take my word for it, it was unplayable.
