How do you cope with crippling depression from being old and busted?

What?

Anyway, Super Mario Land has some really cool locations and enemies, I love these chinese jumping zombies.

Land 2 was a huge improvement, and it's still quirky, but Land 1 feels like it has a sort of darker theme to it, almost as if it's /x/'s super mario game.

>> No.2797560

Hard to say. I'm pretty young still.

Land 1 has probably the best mario soundtrack.
I like how virtually none of the assets from previous games were used, and very few made it into later games.

Try thinking of your life as a game. Maybe an open world MMO or whatever works for you. After you log out/shut off the console (die) it doesn't really matter what you've done, unless you've done really great or really terrible things.

This frees me up from social pressure and a lot of limiting ideas I had about myself, and made me think that even my contrarian "rebellious" ass was heavily conditioned by my society.

Ideas of "you're not gifted enough" to be successful as an artist and musician got washed away as I stopped giving a shit about being good at stuff and just did them to see what would happen. Like, "what happens if I drive off that big rock in GTA" feels the same as "why don't I try some cognitive science courses at college?" (I took 3-4 and am now working at a psych lab).

I think the sort of playfulness and experimentation that can be fostered in video games is very useful in real life now that we're not living in caves and trying to find berries and hunt woolly mammoth's and shit.

Feel free to change your beliefs about the world to see what happens.

Try adding in a line of new age bullshit code to your psyche that says "Everything that happens to me happens for a good reason."
I kept this thought in my head a lot a couple of years ago and helped a lot in helping me see opportunities in life and increase positive affect all while being genuinely agnostic about god and supernatural phenomena.

tl;dr maybe your life is a video game; try different shit and see what happens.

Super Mario Land is a pretty good cure for that. My father had a friend who had a Game Boy with only this game back in the days. I didn't understand as I thought SML to be forgetable then. Now I understand perfectly the magic of this thing.

I think the logic is "anyone who is older than me is an old geezer".
I don't know what the issue is though, if you're old, it means you already were 15, or 20, or 25, and you're still alive. If you're 15 or 20, you don't know if you're gonna make it tomorrow.

To be honest, /vr/ is probably the board with the older people on 4chan, although we have young people mixed in too.

robot and adv are mostly teens and young adults.

Still, yeah, this isn't retro games at all, we should be discussing Super Mario Land instead.

Pretty much, in the shitposting sense of entitlement.

40 year olds can look surprisingly young. My wife got carded at the liquor store this past weekend and our drinking age is 19.

I on the other hand have only ever been carded once and it was when I was in a group of people all getting checked. A waiter asked if I would like to see the wine list when I was having dinner with my parents once. I was 15.
