I remember Tails more for hitting Robotnik and giving him invincibility/ethereal frames, so I'd fall through him. Either prolonging bossfights by breaking up the patterns I could get him in, or ending them because I'd fall to my death.

Sonic 3 (&K) Miles was awesome. Sonic 2 Miles was just fucking irritating.
