I try not to buy stuff in horrible condition unless it's a good deal or I think I can clean it up.

I don't have any games in impressively bad shape; best I can do is some beat-up boxes.
Bonus points for the Bomberman tap box because I bought that brand new back when it came out and must have smashed myself.

I bought a Kirby's Adventure for $7 with someone's name written on the label in permanent marker. I just wiped it off with a dry erase marker and a cloth. I generally wont buy a game with a fucked label unless its really cheap.

All I have is one copy of Rockman X with some Japanese kids writing on the back.

Interestingly if I screw that cart apart it has been tampered with/repaired. There's a diode of some sort soldered on.

Also the sticker on my repro of Star Fox 2 is coming off, but that is due to shit sticker.

I know not /vr/, but the only thing I've got is my mom wrote our last name on every PS2 case (Paper not the plastic) and disc.

i have a copy of megaman x that was left sitting in the rear window of someone's car for an entire summer. the color on the label completely faded out, so it's entirely blue and white now. the back is also a little melted, so it's concaved very slightly. it still works like a charm tho.

Some dyes are more resistant to uv radiation than others based on the chemical structure and dye bonding reactions. The blue is probably just a better performing dye. Could also have to do with the wavelength makeup of the light its exposed to but I got my ms in chem not physics or optics.

also used to own for the longest time a beat up Little Nemo that i cherished out but had to trade it eventually and later got a nice copie of the game for $3 a couple of years ago, no trolling.

Also owned a beat up copy of Rescue Rangers but trade it for Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle and then got a good Rescue Rangers copy for $7.

OP here. FUCK I completely forgot about my Genesis games. Most of them look like that. Sega didn't put the protective plastic foil over their game labels like Nintendo did, so now it's extremely hard to find a Genesis cart that doesn't look grungy. Based Nintendo.

If I can find it I'll post my Wario Land III cart. I found in the street back in middle school, It looks like it had been run over a few times and left in the rain, it was a bit corroded and the top right corner of the case was cracked and missing but it worked and still saved. I played it through to completion, watched the credits and marveled as it would never make it past the title screen again. It just kept resetting

This is my turbo grafx 16, that was literally left outside for 4 days. Image is a little shitty but, a friend of mine burrowed this and left it on my door step cause I wouldn't be home for a week, and he was going on a trip. It was during a rain storm. Wow man you should really give Majora's Mask a try. It's kind of like the black sheep of the Zelda franchise. It's relatively small, there's no Ganon, and it revolves around a very interesting and well-implemented time travelling mechanic. The overall tone is also much darker than other entries in the franchise.

I recently bought a large lot of "defective" games that included a copy of Chrono Trigger. The plastic shell and label were in good condition so I had been expecting that perhaps it would have the wrong PCB inside or maybe some broken traces, but when I opened it up I saw that the "defect" was actually that someone had drilled a hole into the mask rom. I just don't understand what kind of sick person would do that to what looks like an otherwise good PCB.

There's an X3 cartridge at my local game shop with a badly ripped label and they want $200 for it. Their copy of X2 is also ripped and they want $100.

Worst things I have are a a few cartridges with marker on them, a Super Mario Bros. 3 cart with a small chunk of the corner missing, and a Super Mario RPG cart with a Blockbuster label I haven't removed yet.
