Yes there are. At the time there was the Coin Controls Competition Pro (digital, my preference) and the Wico Command Controller (analog, more popular). They both plugged in with a passthrough and you still used the number pad on the controller, although Wico made an independent control pad too.

I got pretty into 5200 a few years ago but I should have collected XE instead, and I should have started earlier too.

There's a kinda long-ish sequence with people playing NHL and bitching, then trying to see if you can make someone bleed from a fistfight.

No, not at all. 7800 is a bizarre evolutionary dead end. The 5200 is a consolized XE computer with less memory in very much the same way a Dreamcast is a consolized Naomi arcade system with less memory. Theoretically, porting existing 8-bit computer games should have been easy but the 5200s still-too-high retail price and bad reliability left it dead in the water pretty quickly. Then Atari also released a full-spec consolized XE computer which is what anyone thinking of getting a 5200 should get instead, if not a full-on XE or even just a 400. There are a precious few worthwhile 5200 exclusives (Cosmic Dungeon) but the XE has tons of very solid "second-gen" feeling games.

For the sake of completeness and out of respect for the homebrew scene here's the level of controller that people construct, and there are some boss vintage production controller replacements too.

The 5200 has a strong homebrew software scene because it's so similar to the XE that games can be developed and playtested on that machine then, if the 5200 was in mind from the start, pretty simply ported.

The limo ride one was probably the first episode I'd ever seen, so that's probably why it doesn't seem weird to me, although yeah getting held at gunpoint at the end does feel out of place in hindsight. And the one about Kramer going to Hollywood was sort of weird since it involved actual murder.

Also this scene from when Jerry gets illegal cable is sort of shocking.

Because it was a lazy cash-in from the success of the cartoon. Totally made to be kid friendly. In the first one the city was grimy, dirty, the GB smoked like chimneys. Now you don't see any of that. Everything's clean and bright and they never once pose with a cigarette. Slimer pointlessly comes back just because he was popular in the cartoon. The overall plot is definitely weaker. Instead of fighting the armies of a god they fight some dead warlord trapped inside a painting who's genius idea is to be reborn inside a baby's body and presumably wait 18 years until he's an adult to take over the world. And lastly the overall format of the movie follows very closely with the first one where at some points its very obvious they just took the first script and crossed stuff out and rewrote a few words.

I actually thought that game was quite good, despite some flaws (like Murray sounding like he phoned in half his lines, or the dumb as shit save system).

I like that they got almost all the cast, Peck is there, Janine is there.
Shame they couldn't get Moranis to do Tully, and that Weaver declined due to a misconception.

And that's another thing, I have no idea why it had to be a remake.

They could literally have redone the setup to be about a bunch of ladies who open up a Ghostbusters as a franchise in like, I don't know, Seattle, Las Vegas, whatever, some big town.

Murray could have briefly shown up as Venkman to sell them the rights to run their own Ghostbusters operation, like a contract or whatever.

Not only is that a better premise than "lol rule 63", it could be in the same canon as the originals (for better or worse)

It's just as well. If she was in it'd probably revolve around ghosts pestering her again. It was fine for the first movie but by the second it's like, really? Out of the 10 million people in New York to be directly affected it just so happens to be her again? That was just silly.

>> No.2768767

Her replacement was almost the same kind of character though, makes it feel kind of forced in one sense.

I mean, imagine if they made another entry, and since Harold Ramis is dead, they have to think up a new character to replace Egon Spengler.

They make a new character, with a new actor/voice actor, but he exhibits a lot of the characteristics of Egon, he's basically an ersatz Spengler, he looks and sounds different, and his actor's style isn't really present in the story, but he's obviously another Egon.

Wouldn't you rather they'd write a more original character instead? Like, he could still be sort of as straight faced as Egon commonly is, and be very methodical and booksmart, because the team needs that, but I think it would be much nicer to have this character developed in his own direction than just being a stand-in.

I remember one of my cousins got this for his birthday. We played a week later and he called me a cheater for picking "that jackie chan bitch because he was a boss character" and I realized some people just don't give a fuck. This. You always see big rolling fireballs erupt from handgrenades in movies, but in real life, it's really just a lot of rapidly erupting smoke and it throws little shrapnel everywhere in it's area.

I don't object though because it's ok for movies to have cool explosions.

I love this kind of stuff. Whenever I can see a cheesy 80's film, I do and try to catch what video games are on the background.

For example, in the Sylvester Stalone movie Over the Top, there's a Mario Bros. arcade cabinet in the background -but clearly visible- of one scene.

In the same scene, but in another angle, there is another Nintendo arcade machine (with Nintendo's logo clearly visible in the side panel) and a Punch-Out!! game.

Even if they don't feature in the story, it's placement and dominance over the other background props lead me to believe that Nintendo paid for some kind of product placement -the same way Hilton Hotels did, and that's why the last act of the movie happens at the Las Vegas Hilton (the prime place to do an Arm Wrestling Championship/Trucker Expo, I'm told), but there's no mention of Nintendo in the end credits...

Not a cheesy 80's action flick, but a cheesy 90's rom-com. In Runaway Bride, the Hotel Receptionist plays with a Virtual Boy after giving Richard Gere's character the keys to his room. The interesting thing is that his Virtual Boy comes with a headstrap!

(The headstrap, although planned, never reached the market.)

I don't think so. Besides playing the right music -the warning music at the start up of Mario's Tennis-, this movie came out in 1999, and the Virtual Boy was sold from 1995 to 1996.

Most likely someone in the design department liked the VB and wanted to include it on the film in some way or another, and instead of using the default stand they made a custom headstrap.

Look up Proto Culture by Del the Funkee Homosapien. Not only is the entire song about games (even mentioning magazines and shit), but it came out in 99 or 2000, so all games mentioned are retro.
