Basically, good games that got translation patches but aren't popular. Hidden gems, so to speak.

Most translators don't have anything to gain from their work but appreciation and maybe the satisfaction of doing a job well done. I wanted to give some lesser known ones the spotlight. I'm not even talking about the quality of the translation, just being able to play these games is mostly enough for me.

Gen the Carpenter or Daiku no Gen-san: Kachikachi no Tonkachi ga Kachi is a puzzle platformer on the GBC that didn't really need a translation to be playable, but the dialog between the stages is seriously funny and I am thankful for the translation.

4 Wizardry games for the GB/C got translated in the last year, done mostly by the same guy, which is rather impressive.

Sylvan Tale a cool top-down action-adventure on the Game Gear by Sega that noboy cares about.

Dicing Knight Period, an indie rogue-lite on the WonderSwan Color, way ahead of its time.

Fushigi no Umi no Nadia or Nadia: Secret of Blue Water on the Mega Drive took years to get translated and have you ever heard of it?

Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain, the original version of Shatterhand, got a new translation since NES version changed some things.

SonSon II is a PC engine exclusive by Capcom. It's also a sequel to Black Tiger.

Hourai Gakuen no Bouken! for the SNES. I've seen it talked about here, but never anywhere else.

Didn't the official release use the fan translation?

Ys V on the SFC is very overlooked. It's a cool game, even if it isn't the usual Ys stuff.

I like this thread.

I wanna give thanks for the Pokemon TCG 2 translation. Even if I feel like it deserved a more impressive sequel, I'm happy that I was able to play it.

>Fushigi no Umi no Nadia or Nadia: Secret of Blue Water on the Mega Drive took years to get translated and have you ever heard of it?

No, because it's an anime adventure game ala Akira on Famicom. There are so few Genesis games that need an English translation or retranslation that nobody brings up the few that exist.

Hey, at least it differs from the anime at one point. I wonder if it's closer to the initial draft.

I've been wanting to play this for quite some time. I'm a big Nadia fan.

No, it was retranslated from scratch. It has none of the bugs the fan translation introduced.

For me it'd be the translations for Chaos Seed, Energy Breaker, and the Slayers SFC game. All three are great games on their own, but seldom do people mention them at all.

I love this game. It got a bit of attention around here when the translation was finished, but since then no one really mentions it. It's funny, the gameplay is fun and pretty original and it's not too long.

I liked the writting, it was charming and funny, but the gameplay was lacking. Not that there was something wrong with it, it was there at all. The game is just walking and talking.
