I don't like this either /vr/ would be a much better place if GameCube was allowed . I feel like /vr/is dying by not allowing the other 6th gen consoles when they are obviously/vr/ material. Youn never see threads on any other board wanting to change board rules. Give the people what they want for Christ sakes. I have made a LOT of threads about old consoles, including the 6th generation of consoles and i always got nice discussion with minimal shitposting, if you people stopped being faggots you could stop coming up here and try to force shit.

The 6th generation will not be considered retro because the cutoff of retro is 1999 and i doubt it will be move regardless of you idiots keep spamming shit. Dreamcast is considered retro because it was released in 1999, making it retro [and let's be honest, the Dreamcast died out too quickly to even consider it a sixth generation console, thanks sega]

No they aren't, the 6th generation of games was the beginning of the modern era, ending whatever trace of old gaming with pixelated sprites and low poly models/raytraced models/voxels from the face of gaming, you don't see Nintendo doing games with sprites anymore or sony making crash bandicoot or microsoft doing flight simulators.

This "hurr why even bother" mindset is what killed a big chunk of 4chan culture, consider that.
And also, the GBA while it was a bit like an SNES, it doesn't hold a candle to the SNES/Generis libraries, specially considering that games that were ported from SNES->GBA were half assed and ruined by either fucked up color pallete or bad sound [see the entirely of FFVI Advace]

Castlevania, Metroid, Pokemon, Megaman Zero, and the occasional obscure gems like Ninja Five-O, Drilldozer, Astro Boy and others justify GBA discussion on /vr/. I'm not even counting good remakes like Kirby, the Pokemon games and Steel Empire. Boktai doesn't get any discussion in /v/ save for the occasional mention in a Metal Gear/Kojima general.

I'd say the GBA had some good titles on it's own, and I'm honestly fine with a port not being 1/1, color palette being off didn't really bother me, and I never played a game with really bad sound.
Metroid Fusion would make slight crackling noises on my DS because of mono/stereo conflicts, but you could flick that off when starting the game, Harmony Of Dissonance ha music which could be a bit hard on your ears if the volume was up, but the tunes were still great.

While were at it can we make this an orange board so we can have R34 retro waifu threads?

The games I listed were from the top of my head. Astro Boy is obscure in comparison to most other Treasure titles. I mention Pokemon because it's a notable remake, not because it's an obscure title.

Retro is dictated by aesthetics and aesthetics speak that the GBA is much more retro than the Dreamcast.

Technically yes and no, because it would depend upon the PC you were using. But I agree the cutoff date should be a little loose for PC, since there's not much of a difference between say, 97 and 01 PC titles. However I'm not a mod, so my opinion is invalid, and so is yours.
