Does anyone know how the attribute system works in Gauntlet 64?

I've read difference sources, some suggest the ranged attack damage isn't affected by strength, and that it only affects melee damage.

I'm probably going to be playing this soon, and my strategy will be to take every item from my friends and vendor them to sumner and spend everything on the stat that affects my damage.

Short story is, no one has datamined it to find the actual damage equation. So no one really knows. So just go with what feels right.

How hard can it be? Just dump everything in strength and check your ranged damage, then start a new game, ignore strength and check again.

THERE
I FUCKING SOLVED IT

Why would you not just play legends on the Dreamcast?

All you need to know is that you should pump speed and armor to ensure you get to the gold faster than any of your friends.

Speaking of friends, I wonder why we never played any games together after this one...

Why would you not just play the original arcade game?

I mean, I would to be honest. Like if I could set up a cabinet I would. I get the feeling you're trying to insult me though. The DC version is the closest you'll get to the arcade version; N64 hardware just doesn't cut it.

Forgetting the restrictions of the board for a second, why not just play Dark Legacy. It's the entirety of Legends (even the DC version) and more.
Anyway to answer OP's question, I'm 99% sure it affects ranged damage too. I just know if you pick warrior, you'll soar above your friends in levels just since your higher strength means things will be dying way faster.
