Hey /vr/

I'm starting a youtube channel that covers topics on video games.

It's not let's plays or anything like that. Actual reviews.

I'm just starting out so my quality might not be up to par but I think it's passable for now.

I'd love to know if you liked it or not!
I'm not asking you to subscribe or anything. I just want to know what you think of the video!

After seeing the watchmojo top ten for Gundam I swore to never touch one of those again.

Why would they do that.

I saw on their website that they are doing a top 10 best dragon ball z youtuber or something like that.
Jesus Christ.

I have other videos. Like Product Placement in Video Games. Or a video on the Dendy (although it's my first and probably worst video) If you are interested in that.

Don't worry anon I'm just yanking your chain. As long as they don't try shoving their stuff here all the time I don't mind a few people here starting a youtube channel and asking for advice.

Alexandrovsk, Perm Krai Russia.

I moved to The United States a few years back and my accent is getting kind of mixed.

To nitpick

Way too much Egoraptor influence
The vibrating Russian family was funny though

Don't use the word obscure unless things are actually obscure or you'll trigger the autism of people like me

The Aladdin one is easily seen by anyone who played that game, and it's popular. The Sonic demo is also pretty well known. The Smash 64 stuff is known by anyone who owned the game as a kid, and the Pokemon one is extremely common knowledge (and is also in the original Red/Blue)

No please Nitpick! it helps me understand my flaws.

Yeah when I finished the video I felt like a lot of people would know them.

I got a message from someone saying that the Psychonauts one was even on some G4TV show.

Next time I make a top ten I will do more research before hand.

What do you mean by Egoraptor influence? Could you pick out a specific scene?

How much did you play video games while you lived in Russia? I don't wanna be a dick but the current videos you have are pretty run of the mill youtube reviewer stuff, I think you'd not only standout more but in general have much more interesting content if you talked about your experience with video games in your homeland.

>> No.2704593

>>2704589
Not a lot. My first video pretty much gave the extent of everything.
I lived in a pretty small town. I had a dendy with a few multicarts and a few solo games.

That's not to say there was not a lot of video game related things around.
I just never got the chance to experience any of them.

When I moved to the United States it was a huge culture shock.

Ironically my next video is on the Beavis and Butthead PC games and one of the first things I talk about are two TV shows I used to watch in Russia.

In the video you said something like "less often talked about" easter eggs which is much safer. When you say "obscure" people get up in arms because "obscure" is used a lot as sort of a hipster cred term or something, I dunno.

There's a few things that bring about the Egoraptor comparison but most notably the "getting louder and more excited then cutting to the next scene mid-sentence" gag, which you do a couple of times. You could have also picked it up from Jon Tron or someone emulating them. Kids will probably find it funny but for a lot of us who have been around it feel more like "Oh, this shit again."

>>2704589
This guy might have a great idea if you have the content for it

Oh, and how can you mention the Mickey hat as an easter egg in the desert Aladdin level and completely forget to mention the pillar that has Goofy on it that you can fly up and get to a shopkeeper?

>> No.2704606

>>2704595
Now I see what your saying about the Egoraptor thing. Thank god you said it. There is a moment on the next video that I do that same thing again. I'll get rid of that.

To be honest I was stupid and named it "Obscure" because I thought it would get more views and I did not think about the aftermath of it all. Thank you for bringing that up.

I actually did not know about the goofy easter egg!
I did all of this on memory alone and that goes once again into doing my research beforehand.

Thank you again so much for giving me some critical feedback.

>Not a lot. My first video pretty much gave the extent of everything.

Ah that's ok I guess. If I have one piece of advice I'd say do what you want to do and not worry about what's popular or not. There are already a shitload of reviewers out there trying to be the next Jontron or AVGN so while it may seem like it could help you get views borrowing elements from some of the stuff they've done in reality is just makes you fall in line with the crowd of the thousands of other people who do it.

>When I moved to the United States it was a huge culture shock.

Now this actually seems like a really cool subject that could give insight about culture in America to those of us who lived here our entire life that we may not have noticed. If you feel like you'd gain enjoyment out of this I'd really love to see some content based on that even if it isn't related to video games.

/vr/ more or less shuts down during nighttime hours. It's like a 24 hour grocery store. Technically people are still allowed in but after 2am there are only like three of them and they're all weird and should be in bed.
