Actually, joking aside, my favorite is Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, mostly because i really enjoy the Soul System, ever since it appeared in Shaman King for the GBA or Mega Man 1 for that matter.

Killing enemies and stealing their signiature powers seems (to me) like a really neat idea. That along with the fact that you can trade these powers via Cable Link makes for a great social activity aswell.

I just meant that it is a contrarian opinion very different from the consensus people had at that time, in the 90s.

The best example is the Street Fighter III games, people love them here (/v/ and /vr/), but when it was released it was a failure, it was much less popular than the Marvel vs Capcom games or KOF 98, and it ended up almost killing the Street Fighter franchise for a decade.

Yeah, for some reason, the average Castlevania fan has really little interest in the series history, outside of names like Igarashi, Ayami Kojima or Michiru Yamane, they don't know much else.
