Lots of the characters in that Alpha 2 Ken stage are either Darkstalkers characters or people cosplaying as them. Anita was supposed to be a child Rose, she would be the link between both series. Darkstalkers never gives an exact year in their story, but from a few things we can gather, Darkstalkers takes place in the '80s. Since Street Fighter takes place in the '90s, it would make sense for Rose to be a child back then.

Personally Charlie has the best stage

It's on a fucking rooftop with fucking neon high-rise buildings in the background. With fucking a jet plane flying behind you.

I also like Rolento and Guy's stage because of the final fight nostalgia.

Gen's stage is very cool too, it's the kind of place where you'd expect to find the old man, in a dark alleyway.

Ryu in a desolate snow-covered part of Japan.

Ken in the middle of his wife's party on a yacht.

Birdie in a filthy barroom toilet.

Sakura in a back alley in a residential neighborhood

Also the stage where it's nothing but a thunderstorm on a grassy hill is very cool as well, just the type of place for two rivals to encounter.

Just in general SFA2 has awesome backgrounds.

That stage comes from the movie (the anime one, not the live-action). It's from the initial scene, where Ryu and Sagat are fighting.

Some trivia: Bison's appearance in the Alpha series is based on the movie. In the original (SF2), he was mostly a well-built man, but in the Alpha series, he was huge. This made its way into canon with the explanation that the Bison from the Alpha series was at his strongest.

The Dramatic Battle mode is a nod to the final battle of the movie (Ryu and Ken vs Bison). In the japanese version of Alpha 1, it's even the same song used in the movie.

DKC is an amazing game but yes, it's ugly.
Same goes for Diablo 2.
And basically all early 3D.

We had to wait a long time for 3D to catch up to where 2D were at the point 3D started to take over. I'm not saying anything about the quality of the games; many amazing games came out with terrible looking 3D - strictly talking about the looks of 3D vs 2D.
