Here's where I play the classics. I really need to find a couch so I don't have to keep using dinning room chairs and/or the floor.

Right now the retro goes to both the screens. Makes it easier for if I ever want to record gameplay, just need to unplug one and plug it into the comp

Yeah, I dunno. The server really doesn't need anything plugged into it but power/ethernet. It's just hooked up because I had the stuff already. The laptop is so I don't have to move back and forth from my comp and /diy/ area, and so I can just preconfigure it with the stuff I need.

My emulator ran at like 80% speed with "compatibility" for all of like 3 games.

It was garbage. If I had more then 3 months to work on it (I also had other classes/commitments) it would've been better and I would've gotten it to be running at full speed and work with more games.

My teacher was a bro though, he just thought it was a unique and cool project (seriously, you can only grade so many stupid programs like "Audio-mixer", or some stupid Database thing, for the 100th time), and an avid game player and even though it didn't work that well he still gave me a good grade. He also had a ROM dumper, so he brought it in and we dumped our own roms and tested them, was pretty cool.

He was easily the hardest marker I've ever had. He also has a pretty big boner for Assembly.

He gave people who had almost fully-realized Audio mixers 60-70's, some guys made a pretty cool program that let you interface with all your social media via one program (so you could do a "post to all" type thing, as well as manage stuff individually from their program) and they got 75%.

No one got even close to 100%, and I was one of the highest marks in the class. A lot of people went to the Department head about it too.

Granted most people botched the mandatory write up about how what you were doing was innovative or unique/interesting, mandatory check-ins and updates, and there was also a presentation that a lot of people flubbed. I kinda lucked out because games are cool and even if the emulator runs like shit its impressive to see something running during a presentation.

This is very much a work in progress. The TV also appears to be a non-starter because it introduces several inches of shift to the left when using RGB from NTSC sources, and I can't fix it (same anon from the CRT thread, if you were also there). And I don't think my TV will ever be satisfactory, because I know I'm not going to be able to lift a hefty CRT up the stairs to my apartment by myself. It has a ton of minor perks to make up for the slight lack of accuracy IMO

1. More controller choices
2. 720p - 1080p (gamecube, ps2)
3. Integrated cheat engine
4. HD texture hacks
5. Save states allow you to save anywhere
6. Netplay
7. Rom hacks (esp. hard type for easy games like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger)
8. Eng translations rom hacks / no region lock
9. 60 fps hacks
10. No memory cards needed
11. Switching game is much faster
12. Ease of access (3 clicks from your computer)
13. Fast forwarding / frame skip / slow-mo
14. Saves yourself the cable management
...and probably more shit I forgot.

They're all very small perks for the most parts but I think its a fair trade for a bit of minor glitches now and then.

Netplay is so great for dead fighting games like Darkstalkers, especially when your casual roommate plays nothing but Dota 2, Battlefield and CS:Go.

They still have crazy expensive retro games over there, but a lot of the titles that command high dollars here are dirt cheap there. Nah, when you go to used game stores, 99% of Famicom and Super Famicom carts are loose. The employees do take care to remove stickers and writing from them though. And just like here, PC Engine and Megadrive carts are usually complete.

PS1 games that are loose or missing bits usually get tossed into Hard Off's junk piles, unless it's something really rare and valuable. Junk bins usually have some great deals if you're willing to dig through them.

The consoles are plugged in, it's just that the controllers are stored in baskets inside the cabinet on the right of the photo.

As for the speakers, I'm not sure how I could get them both on the level shelf without messing up the surround sound. See how the L and R units have those diagonally angled panels on the upper half? So if I put the right speaker down on the lower shelf like how the left one is, its diagonal part will be pointing right into the taller cabinet. I guess I could try moving the speakers to the front of the shelf and putting them both on either side of the monitor instead of on the edges. Might try that I guess.

I would get some big tupperware tubs.

I'm renovating and the first thing I needed to move was my gaming shelf so I bought more bins (my consoles are in these same ones currently). They're a little on the pricey side (20 CDN) but they're pretty rugged and it makes moving them easier. Plus they stack in themselves so they take up minimal closet space and can be easily re-used or used for storing other stuff.

Dealing with cardboard boxes for moving is a fucking horrible experience. It will probably cost you the same as buying bins if you go get boxes to move, and they aren't nearly as sturdy. They break, they get dented and don't protect nearly as well, and if they get wet you're fucked.

Those 6 50 quart bins hold basically my entire collection.

>40 SNES
>18 N64

>73 PS2
>73 PS3
>15 PS4
>19 GC
>10 Wii
>4 Wii-U
>10 Gameboy (in gameboy cases)
>14 Xbox

I think its worth it because when I inevitably move again (if its 2 years, or 10 years) I'll know most of my collection fits, and I can throw more games in the less full console bins if push comes to shove.

Newfag here. Nothing noteworthy here at the moment, save for this PVM-14 I scored for $50. I fucking hate this entertainment center though, getting a new one before I begin my great console hunt

I do have an NES and N64, but they're in a box nearby because I haven't modded them for RGB yet and also I'm too lazy to make room in that shitty entertainment center for either of them

I would swear mine doesn't have any video options outside game. As in, i have to go into a game to get to those options i listed.

my main emu options screen does NOT look like pic related. There's no video options tile at all, only the other four arranged in a 2x2 grid. Might be time to check my version?

And assuming i do manage to get that option up, what setting from there? NTSC 480i? PAL60?

I'm using 4.3.2.

Start up a game, and bring up the emulator menu. Select "Game Settings", then "Video".
Rendering is the first option.
Video mode should probably left to Auto, which I believe detects what mode it should be in based on either the rom in question or the video mode the Wii is already in, but setting it to NTSC (480i) while in "Original" Rendering mode will still have it output 240p. Setting it to PAL60 seems to keep the resolution the same as with 240p, but PAL(50) will squash it into 288p.

PAL50 does seem to require you to go back into the game, then back to the menu for it to actually switch to 288p50 mode, but in this case you wouldn't want it running in that anyway.

thanks man, i'll give it a look after work.

This probably means i'm already using 240p. It flickers slightly, compared to using crt_emudriver for groovymame. I figured that flicker was from it being in an interlaced mode of some description.

Sorry to all for hijacking. I'll post some pics of my station when i get home to make amends

Nearly positive /vr/ has had a 500 bump limit since its inception, as that's what /v/ had when it split off.
If not, it picked it up very soon after.

For the 14M2, sure.
32FS13? Maybe with its flat bottom
I can't see them doing shit for the Megaview though, not on their own at least. 220lb on those feet would punch right through flipped milk crates.
I do have a panel from an old desk that could probably work, but it's currently supporting the HDCRT in the back ontop of two old PC towers.

Finally got to painting. Much better with the more toned down neutral grey vs the old kinda yellowy brown. Also scaled back the cabinets and re-organized the games so they look really good, and I have some room to expand. The Neo-Geo fits a lot better there vs. by the TV and should be really nice. Gonna put my games in the unit next to it, but I may also change it because I would like some stools for those longer games. I also have shockboxes coming so that'll be neat.

Tomorrow is painting the rest of the room and hopefully installing new pot lights so its not as dark in here. Then I'll probably build a little unit for my CRT so that there aren't many cables exposed.

Feels good to get it even more cleaned up and tidy.
