My first successful attempt at a duelling coaster. One of the trains is about a millisecond faster but they have the same ride time which I'm happy about, and intensity isn't too much higher than excitement. Certainly a lot easier trying to keep up with the symmetry than a racing coaster.

I had a little go on it earlier. The objective is too easy but I guess it's a placeholder. The black ash path should be added and I think starting with at least 1 roller coaster type would be a more fun. Also, where it says <insert country here> in the description, I guess it should say America since there's a Route 66 signpost on the highway? Also, a magnet crane would be a nice touch.

Well, first you figure out where you want your outer walls to be. If there's terrain, try to conform to it somewhat, instead of just flattening all of it. Try to avoid being to rectangular with your walls, as real castles tended to be a bit more fluid in shape.

Walls themselves are pretty easy, and depending on where on the wall you want the gold line (if you want it) there's a number of ways to do it (see pic). The first and second are easier to send paths through without removing clearances. I went with the middle one so that the line on my wall towers would be at the same level as the line on my walls. I used raised Crazy Pavings paths for the tops of my walls, though if you want stuff on your walls and don't want to remove clearances then the plain blocks are better. Pick the color (grey or brown) depending on the environment. Mine started grey, but I realized that the brown would fit in better.

Now that you have your walls (or at least have marked where they're going to be), figure out where you're going to put your keep. Generally the keep either is integrated with the walls (smaller castles) or is an independent structure in the middle (larger ones). Once you know that, mark your entrance points through the walls.

Since you know where your entrances and the keep are, it's time to put some towers on the walls. Put two flanking each entrance, through the two towers do not have to be the same height and shape (as you can see, mine are not). Then space out others, placing them at semi-regular intervals at places where the walls poke out or dip in more than usual High points in the terrain are also good places for towers. I used the basic doors and the small crenelated wall to make the doorway sections into my towers.

Finally, for the keep I recommend looking at some real castle keeps, and trying to make something like them. The keep will be larger for a larger castle, obviously.

Fucking Dungeon Keeper was 10x better than 4, and that itself was a hideous abomination. Atari needs to try REALLY hard if they want to fuck up that badly again.

I'm excited, but wary, for both PC and RCTW.

For RCTW, what we've seen looks pretty good, and I like the coaster builder, but
>atari
and knowing them they're probably holding back content for expansion packs and DLC.

For Planet Coaster, we haven't seen anything other than a rather pretty cinematic.

So I don't know. I'll probably just stick with RCT2, and boot up 3 if I want to make a Tilt/Rotating Tower Coaster.

>>2676170
As far as I can tell, all the ride elements except 1/8th turns and stations/entrance/exit can have their size adjusted. It's pretty dope.

Still has the pitfall that RCT has where if you do a 1/8 turn, you have to do another 1/8 turn before any other turns. I tried to do a 1/8 turn and then a 1/4 turn and it wouldn't let me. Sort of makes sense from an interface perspective, I suppose, but it still surprised me.

The height of the water is also adjustable as well, which is very fun to play with.

What version of the game does /vr/ct play? I have the discs of RCT and RCT2 (no expansions), no idea if these work on modern operating systems, haven't played them in years. I saw there's something called OpenRCT too, is it worth checking out?

When I was a wee lad and just got into rollercoasters, my dad and I took a trip from Scandinavia to the UK and the main purpose of the trip was to visit Alton Towers. We both had a great time.

I think Corkscrew might have been the first inverting coaster I've ever been on.

Booster rockets you can land and reuse, greatly saving costs. Murrica only let them land on a platform in the water for safety, but even then they're getting real fucking close to nailing it.

What do you guys think of classic woodies being converted into hybrids? Six flags is basically having RMC convert every woodie they own.

Also does anyone know if Disney retracks their rides or do Matterhorn and whatnot still have the old handmade tubular steel?

It is what makes guests decide if they want to go on a ride. To low and your rides are lame, to high and guests are scared. I'm unsure what depends on what, but high exitement usually comes with high intensity.

Do peeps get stuck easier in OpenRCT2 than they do in the normal game?

I could be wrong I constantly have peeps complaining about my park being too crowded when there's only a couple hundred guests in total. There's always just one really crowded path where a lot of peeps walk back and forth for no reason. I feel like this doesn't happen as often in regular RCT2, though I could be wrong.
